Hold your hoarses scout,

There is no way that "The Shoe's" will be lost to the poets anytime soon. Although, the mighty poets have always caused teams to get the "fits for about 3-4 quarters", there's just to much at stake for Oxy to lose them.
In fact, i can assure you that every Oxy player is reminded all week long about why the shoe's are important.
Heck, i even had the privlege to hear from former Oxy alumn such as Jack Kemp, Saber Tooth, OxyBob and especially Jim Mora about how important it is to keep the shoes and why every current player shouldn't lose the shoes. The Young players will learn about this unique trophy when Whitter week comes by, however, in the mean time i am sure the tigers are already thinking about what they can do to get their first road victory in Lake Oswego..  (Ooops sorry for the mistake at first. Thanks Fox for clearing that up)

p.s. Same goes as well for the drum.

This should make the Lewis and Clark players feel good about their upcoming season. :o

An excerpt from "insidefootball.com/blog" re speculation as to the Giants' final roster:

Punter Cory Ohnesorge has looked good punting for Jeff Feagles, but there's just no way to keep him around short of stashing him on IR. And something tells me that if he does indeed get cut, he'll resurface with another NFL team at some point down the line.

Better projections for Whitworth's Michael Allan as KC looks to make its roster cuts, from USA Today's online site:

TE Michael Allen, Whitworth (Va.) - Little-known small-college guy won't be slipping under anyone's radar after catching several tough passes in the only touchdown drive of the first-unit offense. Good chance at the 53, and a better chance he'll get snapped up if waived.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope that the Powers that be for the Giants think about how much longer Mr. Feagles can really hold up. It would be a wise move to keep Cory in place and allow him to learn from the best so if Mr. Feagles can't produce on any give Sunday the future punter can take over.

Most NFL punters are a commodity.  It sounds like he has done well enough to be on most team's radar.

If he learns to tend bar he will be able to leave on a moment's notice for a long term NFL gig. :)

According to Yahoo Sports, Feagles got all of the punting duties in the Giants final preseason match against the Pats.  He punted 5 times for an average of 40.6 yards, two inside the 20, no touchbacks, longest punt was 51 yards.

According to the box score on ESPN.com, Cory Ohnesorge punted once for 42 yards.

OxyBob

Ah . . . that would explain the discrepancy in the Yahoo info where in the general stats, it showed 6 punts, but in the individual stats, only listed Feagle, omitting Ohnesorge entirely.

Sure hope Oxy's new SID isn't so careless . . . I'm sure she'll do better than this.

One reason Redlands is playing Haskell is the local Indian tribes are starting to donate a lot of money to the University of Redlands.  My prediction for the season is that Oxy will return to the form we all know and love as cellar dwellars.  They did nothing before Collins and will do nothing after Collins.

Wheww---Finally, the pups release some info on their O-line:
Let's just hope that this release is accurate and not misinformative.

Providing the backbone for the team's scoring abilities, the all-important offensive line boasts a lethal combination of experience and talent.  Largely due to the strength and tenacity of the offensive line, the Bulldogs ranked first in the conference with more than 175 rushing yards per game in 2006.  They also surrendered just 12 sacks to finish second in the conference.  Leading the returning crew, junior Jared Schwass (Ukiah, CA) strives to continue his success of the past two seasons at the tackle position.  Joining him on the O-line, senior Luther Beck (Honolulu, HI), graduate student D.J. Tano (Kailua, HI) and senior Josh Harwell (Redlands, CA) expect to build upon their already-significant minutes of their respective careers.  In addition, count on sophomores Rick Albrecht (Yorba Linda, CA), Robbie Lopes (Honolulu, HI), Travis McBride (Long Beach, CA), and Matt Vasquez (Murrieta, CA), junior Ryan Beebe (Palmdale, CA), and seniors Charles Cochran (Salinas, CA), Pat Donovan (Orange, CA) and Adam Sipes (Bishop, CA), to immediately vie for playing opportunities amongst the front line.

Haha, btw, Dawg Heaven, i think you may want to re-think your post????? Heck, go ahead and just review the past 7 years for Oxy. I think its been a long time since Oxy was down at the bottom

Poet newbies, please do enlighten us with more info regarding the purple people camp. Will there be a scrimmage with a local J.C this weekend or are the boys just going to be doing practice on their own.

they are bringing in Yorba Linda middle school for a scrimmage game on Saturday...but seriously folks,

Scrimmage tomorrow at 7:00 -intrasquad.

looking forward to seeing my boy in purple and gold for the first time.

from what I hear, the squad looks strong. Young DL, but plenty of experience at LB and DB. Offense should be solid with Scurlock and nine returning offensive starters.

Good luck to the Poets this fall...I'm anxious to see even more improvement in the Coach(es) Hammer era.

Unfortunately, Blair has moved on. He was a big reason my son chose the program. He did get to work with Coach Blair during spring practice and learned quite abit from him in a short period of time, as it relates to conditioning and weight training. Having said that, Blair's replacement is outstanding and my son is a big fan of his as well.
I'm not positive, but I think Coach Blair took a coaching job back in his home town. (don't quote me on that)

The buzz on campus is big....some of the SCIAC powers might have a surprise in store for them this year.
