Impressive job done by the Bulldogs.  As for the rest of the SCIAC winners, kudos.

Kudos the Tigers and to our new SID who is just blazin' out of the gate.  Keep up the good work.

If the new SID is such a whiz kid, then why isn't this year's roster posted, why isn't the 2007 media guide available, and why is there still a picture of Andy Collins on the front page? And another thing: The season started, so Oxy can turn off the countdown clock on the schedule/results page, unless we're getting a big head start on counting down to 2008.

OxyBob

Have you seen the state of the Oxy Web site? It's a mess. It takes more than a few weeks to get all of the things done that you demand.

Have a little patience. SIDs have enough to do without fans bitching.

Geez dude, who peed in your cheerios this morning?  Don't be such a rag.

She is doing an excellent job.  Go the Athletics website,  you'll find that w/i the last week or so she's released pieces on mens' water polo, mens' and womens' soccer and football.  The piece after the L&C game was very timely and well written . . . a far cry from what we were getting before her arrival.

As for the roster, that's up to the staff to get her the info.

As for the media guide, I'm not sure if that is an annual or every other year publication.

And Pat is right . . . the website is a work in progress by Oxy's IT dept . . . the SID is responsible for content, not delivery.

So dude, appreciate the upgrade . . . of course, if you wish to endow a position for permanent athletic IT/SID delivery with that extra $2,000,000 you have floating around, I bet you could create the "OxyBob" IT/SID Chair.

Interested?

Tooth,

Oxy, if they felt so compelled, could always try to hire away the Others' IT manager for a salary premium...that oughta save the $2M less the salary increase.

;)

tooth,

With Bob's computer skills he would have that website in fine shape within days. ;D

GO BULLDOGS

PC.......Not being criticial, just inquiring.  d3 football picked Redlands to win the SCIAC, they go to Whitworth and win fairly impressivly, yet in the d3 top 25 poll, in the also mentioned category, Oxy has more votes.  Can you explain?

Pat Coleman

I think you can probably figure this out for yourself.

I'll have a go:

Let's see, an Oxy team with a huge question mark based on the loss of Andy Collins dominated an arguably improved over last year Lewis and Clark by an even wider margin than last year, utilizing all of its traveling squad in the process.

Oxy and Whitworth played nose to nose in the playoff match, with the Pirates pulling it out at the end.  Pretty evenly matched squads last year.

Whitworth took a huge hit w/ the loss of it's QB and now pro tight end Michael Allan, taking a very serious blow due to graduation.

Thus . . . SOME (not all) might be interpret this past weekend as indicating that the Tigers have not been hurt as much as they might have been by the loss of Collins, and that Redlands, while improved, might not be the class of the SCIAC and might not be the presumed champion in light of a narrow victory over a weakened 'Rat squad.

Too soon to tell in my book, and we'lll know nothing for sure until around 10 p.m. on Oct. 6.

snoop dawg

tooth, or how about.......... your presumption that L&C is improved is wrong, and that quality of UR's defense was underrated.  Obviously there are many arguments that can be made, I was wondering what d3's logic was.

Again, I wasnt being critical, just inquiring.

Gray Fox

snoop,
Last week Oxy had 23 points, CLU had 2 and UR had none.

This week Oxy has 34 and Redlands has 29.  Pat has only one ballot, but HE decides which story goes on the front page.

Dawg:

I thought you'd be able to figure out that they are voted on by different people. You are certainly aware there are 25 Top 25 voters, after all.

Yes ...I am aware that there are 25 voters.  In making the Kickoff predictions were the 25 voters consulted or were the predictions based upon your staff and the information they gathered from the varius sources you guys listed?   I though that the 25 voters were part of the process, thus the inconsistency.  It made no sense to me that UR would be picked to win the SCIAC and CLU get two votes and UR none.

And after this weekend and the big win over the Pirates, I thought , again based upon the predictions, that UR would pass Oxy in the polls.

Not that any of it means anything right now, just something to talk about.

ps.....PC, thanks for the front page coverage!

Pat Coleman

No, snoop, we did not ask all 25 voters to rank all 238 teams. It takes Keith and me 8-10 hours to do it ourselves. And at the bottom of the 1-238 rankings, it clearly specifies who ranked the teams.

A little common sense would tell you that.

A 29 point increase versus an eleven point increase is almost triple.  I'm sure Redlands will get their full respect after overcoming this week's challenge. :P

I didn't think you asked the 25 voters to rank all 238 teams however I thought you might have asked their input on the top 25.  Maybe I didnt make that clear.  and....you guys did a great job on Kickoff again this year.  I really enjoyed reading it, I did miss the disclaimer at the bottom of the rankings though.

GF.....every game is a challenge.
