I always liked the beaver for CalTech  ;).  Never met anybody from Oregon State so I can't speak for those beavers.
Hail to the Orange!!!

Quote"it'd be nice to play teams in our division".

How succinct was that, 'CATS?

QuoteI don't think we would be having this conversation if Linfield was in Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, etc.

They wouldn't be LINFIELD then.

Again...snoop dawg, I do not care to research back to the date I warned when you first came on here that you would not want to open the gunny sack containing Wildcat 11.
Suffice to say he is credentialed.
Save yourself a couple more years of woe.

After all, your fantasy is that LINFIELD and Redlands meet up in the playoffs and you will get face time, hopefully, with no egg on it.

thanks Bob....I appreciate it, more +k asap.

PC you are right I should have kept my personal position private, I already apologized to you for it. His in depth response was nothing more than a politically prepared statement.  My position had nothing to do with him being a CLU coach, just a friend and supposed mentor.  But, enough of that.

As to the issue with WC11.....I just get tired of him driving by, and throwing out those types of coments that, come out of the clear blue and then the personal attack starts....for no reason.  If you are going to make those types of statements, you should have personal knowledge of the facts.

It's hard being a trial attorney and not getting the last word in. ;)

D O.C.     I didnt start it.  I would love to see Linfield and UR play, regardless of the outcome.  Linfield has one of the best d3 programs in the nation, if you think you have a good team its good to see how you stack up against one of the best, win or lose.  If you lose, it tells you where you still need to go.  If you win, maybe it shuts some guys up.  ;D

As always, thanks for the advise. ;)

Interesting discussion Re: Linfield and scheduling.

I can confirm that the Linfield AD has mentioned his scheduling situation at NWC meetings.  Not only cant the Wildcats get west coast DIII schools on the schedule, even with shared open dates, often he doesn't even get the courtesy of a return phone call.

It doesn't make sense to me that he would be untruthful about that just so he could schedule games in Texas and Wisconsin, and against non-DIII opponents.

I also know that the idea of a scheduling agreement between the conferences had been broached by the NWC.  The conference will continue to invite the SCIAC to participate in an agreement, especially as we move closer to an eventual Division IV breakoff, which very well could make these scheduling issues even more difficult.

sf....that is a factual and informative post.  I dont doubt Linfield has a tough time getting games from SCIAC  teams or any other league because, they are a very tough opponnent, the distance and cost of travel and a bushel full of other reasons.

I would love to see more interaction between the NWC and SCIAC.  Other than expense and those related issues one possible conflict or problem is that there is a strong possibility that the two eventual conference winners, if they played inthe preseason, could meet again in the first round of the playoffs.  If one team is much stronger than the other, it might take some of the incentive from the previous loser or might motivate them.  I guess which way it goes might depend somewhat on the prior score.

I know you're still relatively new to Redlands, but if you look back at previous years, Redlands used to play Linfield and no longer does. Meanwhile, Linfield has struggled to get games against D-III opponents.

Do the math as to who dropped whom.

And I removed your repeated bashing of the guy you picked on last November. It was inappropriate then and is even more so now, considering his in-depth rebuttal of your complaint.

True Redlands did drop Linfield from their schedule, but they replaced them with Whitworth and Trinity (TX). I fail to see the issue, they dropped a top five DIII program for a top twenty program. Either way they were playing two VERY tough teams. The last time Redlands & Linfield played it was a very competitve game 31-23. Would I like them to play each other again? Of course I would and hopefully it happens again very soon.

RFB,

I'll send down $20 to the Redlands AD so they can turn on their phone line.  I think I have a few dollars stashed away in the Astrostar.

That would probably do it. I heard they were about twenty dollars short on the phone bill.

From the new "Around the Nation" column:

6. Word from Pacific Lutheran's 48-17 win at Cal Lutheran was that the Kingsmen are as out of sorts as they seem. Cal Lutheran was held to minus-5 yards rushing on 24 attempts and went 1-for-12 on third down, among other things. Something is amiss in Thousand Oaks, and it's got to be more than just missing transferred quarterback Danny Jones.

Scandi or any other Cal Lu fans out there care to comment or offer insight?  Discuss amongst yourselves.

Not a Kingsmen issue. The PLU defense is scary good. No one will convert more than 10% of their third downs against the Lutes all year.  8)

That blog doesn't tell us anything about the game. Why link it?

They were nice pictures. I was just disappointed because it was sold to me as analysis of the game.
