Redlands  35  4th Quarter  11:55
Haskell      7

Redlands drives 80+ yards for the touchdown pass. Selway's fourth of the night. Time to sub and evaluate some other players. Nice job Redlands!

RFB

Redlands  42  4th Quarter
Haskell      7

George Foreman is the whole offense on this drive. Five straight carries for 50+ yards and the touchdown. Redlands got their act together in the second half. Nice job Dawgs!

QuoteHaskell Indian Nations at REDLANDS    Wha'?

Puget Sound at CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS   Local Boys lookin' good
(that's Island Style, not Inland Empire)

Carthage at WHITTIER   Get the Newbie family's hope up

Cal Lutheran at WILLAMETTE    Terrible to start at square one

Lewis and Clark at POMONA PITZER   SCIAC has an edge at the bottom

WHITWORTH at La Verne   NWC has the edge at the top

Occidental at MENLO   MENLO has been playing NWC teams for years now/at home

OK, so I won't throw out Occidental again this season. Where are the rest of the scores?

OxyBob and OxyOswald. I tried asking around for you guys and even hung around in front of the Oxy grandstand at half hoping one of you might spot me. Oh well, some other time. Congrats to the Tigers on a convincing win.

Redlands  42   Final
Haskell      7

Nice job Redlands. Way to make the necessary adjustments and shut Haskell down in the second half. Get healthy over the bye week and get ready for Chapman.

Fear the Poet

Carthage 35
Whittier 28

The Poets showed plenty of heart and never gave up. Carthage was bigger, stronger and faster, but my Poets fought untill the end. We need to learn to protect on the OL a little better ..but overall a nice performance by Whittier.  Considering we lost 31-2 last year..improvement is good.

Very fun time for my son's first college game.

Much closer final than I had anticipated FTP.  Not having seen the SCIAC in person but knowing about the CCIW and Carthage's status in conference think this game is a good barometer pending Whittier's outcomes in conference.

Should think the SCIAC should be on notice considering the closing of the gap with Carthage and last year's upsets and upsets that almost were.

he started as a freshman at nose and also stunts at tackle. # 63. Played the whole game, except for three plays. He did well against those big lugs. :)

we are optimistic in conference.

I know that Oxy takes a lot of heat for it's opening out of conference schedules so I expect some pooh-poohing to the following query:

Could Oxy be a better/improved team in its first post-Collins year?  Two consecutive shut-outs could be indicators.  The running game seems to be pretty dynamic and Golz may have lost some of his more "gangly" scrambling tendencies.  A bye week followed by Claremont lead up to the big showdown with Redlands.  Looking forward to it. Looking like it could be quite the test for both squads.

And Whitter?  Wow . . . great showing against Carthage . . . maybe the Poets are moving up from enigmatic upsetters to the real deal, surpassing Cal Lu this year as a possibility in the SCIAC hunt?

Congrats to Rickie and Lucy on Little Ricky earning the starting nose slot as a frosh.  Well done.

And I have to add in this edit congratulations to the Sagehens for their convincing win over Colorado College in Pomona.  I have to postulate that passing props to Pomona is problematic given the plethora of persnickity posters pondering posting for Pomona.

Are we not men?
How can this happen?

QuoteNEXT: Linfield is idle next weekend, before opening Northwest Conference play at Willamette the following Saturday.

For those of you in need of drinking plenty of water and extra vitamin B...
LINFIELD and Occidental are both idle this week!

Congrats to the Dawgs and all SCIAC winners and to those (Whittier) who played well despite the loss.

The Dawg defense once again was dominating, as in return thereto. ;)

And once again...OB is right.......However, I fully anticipate a Dawg eat Cat battle on the 6th...has the makings of a great game.

Pomona beat Lewis & Clark, 36-6. The Sagehens lost to Colorado College.

Doesn't Oxy have to first beat Claremont? The Stags won on the road at Kenyon, and didn't play poorly yesterday in their 22-12 loss to Puget Sound.

Could Oxy be a better/improved team in its first post-Collins year?  Two consecutive shut-outs could be indicators.

Oxy's two opponents, Menlo and Lewis & Clark, are a combined 0-5. In its 3 losses Menlo has been outscored 86-26, and Lewis & Clark has been outscored 88-6 in two games. The indicators are that Menlo and L&C aren't any good.

OxyBob

Re L&C v. Colorado . . . sorry, my bad, pre-morning coffee posting.

I know that L&C and Menlo are bad, I expected some blowback as noted in the post, but I figured it would come from our NWC and Redlands pals, not the enemy from within.   ;)

And of course Oxy has to beat Claremont first . . . but given that I'm simply a fan, and not a coach responsible for preparing the Tigers for their matchup against the Stags, I have the luxury of looking beyond the next game knowing that my fanciful and illogical ramblings have absolutely nothing to do with team preparation or performance . . .

Much more fun to chirp about the Redlands game given that ECS is the sole voice of Claremont here as opposed to the Redlands band . . . and SnoopDawg remains delusional . . . Dawgs may eat puddytats . . . but the Tigers will maul the PoodleDawgs . . .

how's dem beans for some Sunday smack talk?
