Because of the construction at Chapman, tailgating is a little tough. Maybe someone from Chapman could help dial a location in. By the way, why doesn't Chapman apply again for SCIAC. It has been 6 or 7 years? I know certain College presidents were not for it back then. I believe Redlands, Claremont, La Verne would be positive. Any good reasons out there? Cal Tech is not an answer for sure!

What do you expect from the best team ever (according to the coach).  Loggers are quickly gaining notoriety this year for their less than gracious quotes.  I have a feeling they may be more humble after next weeks game....but then again they may just have more feeble excuses.  Anyway, congrats to the Poets!  Nice win!  :)

Congrats to the poets. Sounds like the purple people finally learned how to hang on and finish the game.  ;D

The boys showed up to play and did a great job.  Our defense had a bend but not break mentality.  They gave up some yards but always found a way to stop them when it mattered.  Scurlock ran for his life and scared the hell out of us with his acrobatic moves.  At times we thought he would kill himself!  Unfortunately pompiano (#6) left early with an injury but campiletti (#5) picked up where he left off and had some very important runs to get some tough yards.
All in all is was a barn burner.  The facility was great and all the people were so nice and friendly...!!
Ricky and Lucy had the time of their lifes.  Little ricky played defense the whole game and had 4 tackels ...Lucy yelled like crazy and now has no voice left (which Ricky is VERY happy about!!)   It was quite the experience for us Rookies!! ;D

CONGRATS POETS!

The SCIAC lives and I think the other conferences are taking notice.  This weeks Redlands vs Chapman game ought to be a good one.  We are going to find someplace to tailgate.  Look for the Redlands flag.  All are welcome.

A little something for OxyBob...for some reason I thought of you when I saw this...don't know why, though  ;)

Just a quick diversion from todays grind to a different kind of (bump) and grind.  Here's another example why the NFL stands for the No Fun League:

BoBo,
I change my monitor's wallpaper every day.  Thanks for saving me a search for today's. ;D

Well done Poets!  A close game against Carthage (now 3-0) and a nice win up north might indeed mean that Coach Hammer has started turning things around.  Insert cliche about how there's a lot of football left to be played here.

The quotes from UPS crack me up, but after all, they blew the doors (21-7) off of a ULV team playing its first game under a new coach who had very limited opportunities to recruit and work with his team in the spring.  That's surely an indication that they were well on their way to dominating the NWC and making a deep playoff run...

Nice win for the Poets.

we need to protect Josh a little better and avoid the mental mistakes. Overall, the team seems to improve each week, and thats all we can ask. Coach Hammer is a motivator and does not want to be the "spoiler" or the guy who fights hard but comes up short anymore... and he preaches that to the guys. There seems to be a buzz over there that the Poets can compete with the big boys of Redlands and Oxy. Time will tell......first things first, Pomona comes to town Saturday. Whats the skinny on them?

thanks

The skinny on "that hen team" is that they are an exact anemic replica of the the La Verne team. Like the leo's, the hens do not have a large team, which sure will be an advantage for the purple people this saturday. Even though the hens already have a win, i expect your poets to easily win this game.
As for your comment about competing with the big boys, of course, they have always competed well against these teams. (thus, telling you why this team always causes other teams to the fits) Yet, for some odd reason, the poets tend to let games get by whenever they make mistakes and errors.

thanks eagle. Hopefully the trend you speak of will be erased this year.

Pomona will play smart and disciplined.  While they lack size and numbers they will hang tough and put a scare into you if you don't overwhelm them early.  I wish I had time to look back and check, but I am fairly sure the hens are the most accomplished upset artists in the conference.

Scandi is right. Don't overlook the Hens, they beat a very good Trinity (TX) team at home a few years ago.

The same La Verne you picked to put up a fight against Whitworth?

I happen to agree with you that this Pomona team won't stand much of a chance against what appears to be the surging Poets.  Too young, not a lot of depth or leadership.  Poets should pull out a close one.

Looking forward to watching the Tigers at CMS this Saturday.  Keep that defense rolling.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.
