Uhhhhhh, did I miss something, or does this  ;D not show a little bit of sarcasm?  Stealth, you really need to relax a little bit and understand it was a JOKE.  I watched DJ play his tail off at CLU and am glad to see him doing well at UWW.  Do I think it was a selfish move, yes.  Do I blame the kid, not at all.  CLU has a whole lot of ground to cover before playing with the top of the D-III world and it is good to see a kid that came from CLU doing well.  I really don't know what else to say right now.  I will not resort to your name calling and juvenile chatter at me and will just let it go becuase many of the other SCIAC posters realized it was a joke.  I said a few things on here earlier this year about the current Kingsman QB and I quickly ate those words after seeing his stats from this past saturday.  That is the ONLY reason DJ's name was even put in my post.  It was a joke and you seriously need to calm down after reading some of these posts.  Seriously man (or woman), we are all here to talk about our favorite SCIAC teams.  Take a deap breath and settle down.

PS- Peace is always with me as I do not get upset at the things people say on here, and yes, that even means some of OxyBob's comments  ;)  <------see, that was a joke.
One other thing, I never wore a helmut, but I did strap on a helmet a few times in my days.

FTP-
Props to your son for a good start to his playing days - I hope he continues to enjoy his time at Whittier.  I know that the UR-Oxy game is the biggest game in the SCIAC this weekend, but I am excited about the Whittier-CLU matchup as well.  Right now, the Poets, Kingsmen, and CMS all have the chance to put together solid seasons, and it will be fun to watch them sort that out.  Should be a great game...

thank you..it does look like the conference will be very competitive this season. Not Oxy, Redlands and then everyone else anymore. I think it will be a battle to the end. I'm trying to talk the Redhead into stopping by Oxy after the Poet-CLU game. :)  She is the boss afterall!
Good luck with the convincing, those are two great match-ups on Saturday.  I'm pretty confident I'll be at both.

hope to see you there.

From the LA Times.

QuoteRube Samuelsen recounted in his 1951 book "The Rose Bowl Game" that Stanford initially balked at playing Notre Dame, a school "with inferior scholastic standards."

The Rose Bowl at one point considered Haskell Institute as the West representative, but that was deemed beneath Notre Dame's scholastic dignity.

(CLC not CLU, thank you) - Redbulldog is showing off "original Kingsman" membership card... ;D
Have fun at your reunion!  It should be a great Homecoming Weekend.

scandi-thanks for being kind and saying "original Kingsman" instead of "old Kingsman". You must be a good Lutheran.

Haha, after what i've learned from previous post throughout the past two years on this board, i've learned not to even recognize D.H as a crediable source anymore.

Anywho's, i hope the pups front four are ready to take on their biggest challange thus far in going up against 5 monsters from the rock. This trench battle should be an exciting one, considering that the tiger o-line will 1) come ready to play, 2) want to show the audience that last week's final score will be taken care in saturdays game and 3) just have fun pushing the front four of UOR off the L.O.S.
IMHO, i truely believe that the tiger o-line will win this battle.

From the Occidental Website:

By the Skin of their Teeth, Tigers Win SCIAC Opener, Extend Win Streak to 29

...

According to Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette the Tigers are currently ranked # 16 in Division III.

...

I went over to Don Hansen's Football Gazette Forum to read the discussion about the latest DH poll. Total number of posts: Zero. In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find any post about D-III. Yep, that's a real important poll they have there.

OxyBob

Yeah pretty tough to take that poll seriously.  The article mentions it because that is where Oxy is ranked the highest among D3 polls.  So to the layperson, it simply goes overlooked.

I actually prefer the D3football.com's #25 Redlands at #26 Occidental matchup over Hansen's #35 at #16.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Sabretooth Tiger

Well, I'll take a brief break from work to toss the throwaway thought that the only ranking of any import at this juncture is the SCIAC standing, with the winner of this week's Oxy-Redlands matchup in the catbird seat, provided that it continues undefeated past spoilers like Whitter or a resurging Cal Lu.  My friends at the Claremont game give the young Stags credit for a strong up and coming team . . . coupled with a banged up Oxy that nearly had the Tigers starting the season winless.

Redlands had its own difficulties against the Panthers . . . I'd say that both Oxy and Redlands have some weaknesses that need to be addressed if either one wants to take league and go beyond round one of the playoffs.  Cal Lu looks like it might have found Jones's replacement, and I hear Whittier has a dangerous frosh nose guard.   ;)

The SCIAC may be the most open race it's been in years . . . but I still think that the Oxy-Redlands match deserved to get a "game to watch" mention in Around the West.

Sad to say I won't be making this week's game after all, but will be there in spirit.

Oh yea, BrownEagle . . . don't think that I missed the old "you and Scandi" w/o face masks comment . . . why I oughta . . . .

We had face masks . . . and Scandi was probably a kid on the sideline watching CLC beat us.

Trivia note:  My sole kick off return came at CLC . . . I was an upback, CLC's kicker shanked it and it came my way, got about 30 yards east and west and a net north south gain of 9 . . . I had the leading kickoff return average at Oxy for two whole weeks . . .  ;)

and while it wasn't in the 60's . . . I'd wager it was before BrowneEagle or OxyOswald were born.  :D ;D 8) 8)

ah memories . . .

I agree the game deserved a mention, but the d3 staff can't be everywhere or please everyone. Although they do a good job trying to do so.

Tooth-

What year was it?  I was probably in the group of young hoodlums playing football (between plays of the actual game) with a bunch of wadded up Coke cups next to the Oxy bench.  You may have been up against redbulldog, the board's new original Kingsman.  I guess the only other question is whether or not OB hitched a ride to T.O. on the team bus, or did he arrive in his own bus?

snoop dawg

I think if the Dawgs can score 3 td's that their defense will win the game for them.

If it turns out to be a high scoring game, Oxy should have the edge.
