Nope. That's why I use quotes, for clarification.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

I know Oxy gets the backhand for such a limp out of conference schedule as of late, but in the early 90's when I played, we were regularly playing Azusa Pacific every season until the end of the decade. We also regularly played Trinity (TX) in the early 90's.

Obviously, scheduling some NWC, or even another SCAC opponent will do well for our Strength of Schedule, but don't play it out like we never ever played tough, non-conference opponents.

Here are the Strength of Schedule rankings:

Redlands -- 4
Claremont -- 50
La Verne -- 53
Whittier -- 85
Cal Lutheran -- 207
Pomona -- 218
Occidental -- 220

The only teams I could find on the list with lower opponent's winning percentages than Oxy were Manchester and Gallaudet, which makes sense since Oxy turns a deaf ear to scheduling any decent non-conference opponents.

OxyBob
At least our oppenents opponents play well.

Manchester's got a tough set of games coming up, though.  They have Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, so Oxy will drop even lower.

adcab, no offense, but the early 90s were a long time ago. The automatic bid era gives teams a tremendous safety net to schedule challenging out-of-conference opponents.

adcab19, at one time Oxy did indeed regularly play Trinity, but what have they done for us lately?

No offense, PC? Isn't that another name for Lewis & Clark?

OxyBob
With that kind of comment you're going to put Lewis and Clark on the defensive....oh wait, never mind.  ;)

Doubtful. Of the 231 teams ranked statistically by the NCAA, Lewis & Clark is  230 in scoring defense, 225 in pass defense, 225 in rushing defense, 228 in team pass sacks, 229 in turnover margin, and 226 in total defense.

OxyBob
My point exactly!  :)
Go Cats!

Wow thats very unfortunate. Hopefully Cal Who can rebound, rally the troops and keep the momentum they have going and be ready for the SCIAC showdown with Oxy in a couple of weeks. He is the typical football player, getting injured, not thinking anything of it and playing through it, passing out a few times after and yet still thinking its because of something else! You gotta love this sport and my hat definitely goes off to him!
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

Ouch. That's some bad news to hear from the land of the who. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope the best for his health.

It should be interesting to see how his team responds after losing their starting Q.B. Best of luck to the who.
