Question...Whats everyone hearing as far as games being played this weekend at this point in the SCIAC?

GO BULLDOGS!

I know all Whittier sporting events scheduled for today have been postponed until tomorrow. Depending on what hapens with the air quality, they could be postponed tomorrow as well. For now, the games this weekend are going as scheduled.

Cal Lutheran (3-3) @ Oxy (6-0)
Pick: Oxy. The SCIAC championship is on the line. The Tigers will muddle through with yet another very average performance, win their 26th straight conference game, 33rd straight regular season game, and, despite FTP fearless predictions, clinch Oxy's 4th straight SCIAC title.

OxyBob

Yeah that sounds about right! Cant wait to see the Tigers play, i havent been to a game in the last three weeks, and what better game to go watch then the SCIAC championship game at Patterson Field. FTP while i do believe in Miracles, if I were you, I would be very happy that Whittier will win 4 games this season, doubling their wins from a year ago and winning the most SCIAC games they have won since 2000.
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

Wow, those Regional Rankings should make Redlands fans pleased. You are very much in the hunt for a Pool C bid if you win out.

Very pleased! If Redlands wins out they have a good shot. I'm sure Coach Maynard would love another crack at Central as well. Central beat Redlands 20-13 in the first round of the 1990 playoffs.

what what what, the possibility of having two SCIAC schools in the playoffs at the same time :o....... imagine the flack we would get from our NWC buddies, not to mention the rest of the country!

Well, we'll clearly get no more than one this year (Whitworth-Linfield winner is our only hope). That win in Spokane impressed somebody. (...okay, I'll admit it impressed me a bit too.)

I would love to be happy with four wins, but I'm not. :)  Improvement is good however.

redbulldog-  I think you might have been confused by my last post.  The quote was from one of the CLU players and I was pointing out him saying "I'll beat OXY."  Do I think OXY will win?  Yes.  Do I think OXY is going to crush them?  No.  Not sure they have crushed anyone yet...........wait, I forgot about their non-conference schedule ;)

WT...Why you being so negative? ;) :D  I'm sure coach Ben had someithing to say to the young man you quoted!

I hate to say this, but I think OXY will blast CLU.  Last week they were totally out played and out coached.  Capman had almost 400 yards in the second half alone.  CLU's defense secondary is really bad and the linebackers are too slow to get any depth in pass coverage, so the corners start real deep and give up alot of underneath stuff.  Then when they try to tighten up there goes the long ball.  OXY has to be licking their chops.

I think the bigger problem the Kingsmen D had against Chapman was the length of time they spent on the field - due to the fact that the O, in part because they were dealing with the loss of Toilolo, had trouble mounting any long sustained drives (Chapman had more than 40 minutes of possession time and ran 92 plays to CLU's 67).  I think by the 2nd half the D was a bit worn out, and at times it showed.  That said, I was glad to see that even after they gave up the three straight scores the D came up with three straight stops.  I guess given the circumstances I thought the Kingsmen did well to hang tough and get back within a TD with 2:30 left.  Hopefully the offense will benefit from an extra week of practice with Benedict at the helm and have more success against Oxy.  I know Oxy is a strong team and the Kingsmen have the work cut out for them  - but I am far from "mailing in" the blowout. I am sure this shocks Bob, BE, Oswald and Tooth to no end. ;) :D

I also thought the 2nd Chapman QB (Marty) was quite impressive.  There were some long plays due to breakdowns in coverage, but even more as the result of some great throws.  I am not sure why Chapman platooned their QBs...  on Saturday Marty was clearly the superior of the two. This year's Panthers are a huge improvement over recent years.  It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for them.
