New regional rankings have Oxy at no. 8 in the west, Redlands no. 9 and Cal Lu is not ranked.

If there are no major moves between now and season end, good possibility that the SCIAC representative will be the no. 8 seed . . . so round one against UWW might happen.  (Haven't bothered to look up how travel distance might impact the seedings/pairings).

There would be something poetic  . . . maybe karmic would be a better descriptive, (note gratuitous nod to Whitter) about a Cal Lu - UWW 1st rounder.

ah well, time will tell,

This is getting waaaaay ahead of everything but I was wondering something.....

If CLU beats P-P this weekend but loses to Redlands (which I hope does not happen) and OXY and UR win out and they do the whole "Rose Bowl Rule" tiebraker and CLU gets the playoff bid, does anyone else from the SCIAC get a sniff of the playoffs?

I know that was a very long run-on sentence but what the hell, I have heard and seen worse on here ;)

If there is one SCIAC team in and a NWC team makes it, they'll be paired up. The NCAA doesn't like to fly any more teams than they absolutely have to. A second SCIAC team would possibly go to the midwest.

Don't you mean "Albertson's College?"

;D

Bonus karma to those of you old enough to know WTF I'm talking about.

It wasn't "Albertson's College of Idaho" in 1968...and actually they've just dropped that part of the college's name again.

There aren't a ton of one-loss Pool C teams right now, so anything is possible. If St. Johns and Central win out (beating Bethel and Wartburg respectively), that helps the SCIAC's cause.

Possibly, but in my opinion it would be a longshot. We still have two more weeks to see how everything shakes out. It could be a huge mess for the SCIAC though if there is a three way tie. Two very deserving teams could be left out.

Yo d-train . . . I know that it was College of Idaho in '68 and for a number of years later.  I have a good friend who graduated from the College of Idaho around 1980 (he's an ER doc in Tacoma now) . . . and I have gotten much pleasure over the years needling him about the newer "Albertson's" moniker.

Thanks for the update re the name . . . that is a great decision by the board and great news for the institution (imho).  Moreover, it reflects very well on the Albertson's Foundation.  All this, notwithstanding the fact that it deprives me of an easy shot in particular moments.   ;)

cheers,

RFB-  I got ya and I think 2 good 1 loss teams will have to be screwed if UR beats CLU.  I just dont see how all 3 could go and don't really see how taking one over the other would work.

People really live in Idaho??  Wow, I thought it was empty.  Also, what is this about somebody on here being alive in 1968?  Did you guys ride dinosaurs to school.........10 miles one way.........in the snow..........uphill ;D

You forgot that it was uphill "each way" and that we were barefoot.

Of course, I was only in junior high in 1968.

Bob,

Can you explain that a couple hundred times...?  ;D

I now do not beleive the SCIAC has a chance to get 2 teams in.  The only scenario for that would have been 9-0 OXY and 8-1 UR.  That's a shame, because this appears to be Maynard's best team in the last few years, and they may be out in the cold due to some stupid penalties vs. OXY.

actually--they'll be out in the cold because they lost to Oxy. The penalties no doubt contributed to the loss but so did the fact that Oxy scored more points than Redlands.  I'm pretty sure the playoff selection committee doesn't care much about some penalties ;)

Redlands needs to take care of business and hope that Whitworth wins out. It should be a fun two weeks to see how it turns out.

Tom Brady

RFB-  Do you believe if both Redlands and Whitworth win out, and CLU wins 1 of 2, Redlands will get in?  I am not trying to pick a fight here but why would the NCAA take UR over OXY (if OXY wins out)?  I honestly do not see how they could take UR over OXY if both have 1 loss.  The bottom line is not that Redlands beat Whitworth, but the fact that they lost to OXY.  Like I said, this is an honest question and I am wondering your outlook on it.

dawgs57

MCat - what a stunningly insightful analysis.  I stand thoroughly corrected.

Wild Thing,

Pat Coleman was under the impression that Redlands @ 8-1 would get in.  That of course was prior to OXY screwing the pooch against CalWho.  Hats of to the Who for throwing a sizable wrench into the best laid plans of the SCIAC.  I gotta say, they did what the Dawgs were not able to do.

Oh and that was accomplished by simply scoring more points than the opponent.

UR appears to be in a damned if they lose to CalWho, and not quite as damned, but def. still damned if they beat the Who.

If CalWho gets in, despite getting whipped by UR, (I can't beleive I'm putting this in writing) I hope they rep well for the conference, because it appears that there are 3 "worthy" potential playoff participants.
