Thats the sound of any team that plays at OXY, finding out at half time, that some OXY folks have entered and stolen all their wallets and personal items.  Really over shawdowed the second half of a great game.

Hey ***hole, before you go casting stones . . . do you have any evidence that it was "Oxy folks" that did the stealing rather than local thugs who might not have any relation to Oxy other than trespassing?  If you do, have you reported it to the police and Oxy security?  If not, perhaps you should STFU as to slinging that kind of garbage.

STFU stands for "Send Tooth Flowers Unbidden", right?

Very good!   ;) ;D

And while I was perhaps a little too hard on stealth yesterday, perhaps it is my criminal defense practice/civil rights practice background that causes me to go a little nuts when people cast malicious aspersions without a solid factual basis for doing so.

Even in our piss and vinegar days, I believe that most Redlands posters (RFB, Snoop, RBD et al) would refrain from casting such gratuitous excrement.

ST,

Good post. There is no proof that someone from Oxy was invloved and to speculate that they were is rediculous. However, I do have to fault the Oxy Administration for not having a better security plan to prevent it from happening. This type of thing should not happen.

stealth

Nothing I couldn't get over yesterday tooth and like you said you started off the day without beer so all is forgiven. I only got the left wing liberal media biased version of what happened at OXY. Was any CLU LU folk ripped off to ? How dare someone take advantage of the misty eyed OXY folk or blame campus dwellers.  >:( Should they catch the perpetrators a speedy trial and public hanging is in order.  Oh I forgot your in California so the end result will be a 100 hour goverment subsidized rehabilitation program, the parents will be blamed for the sugar laden cereal fed to them as a child or maybe it was the poor down troden illegal aliens looking for social security cards.  ;D Ok notice I put a smiley thing at the end to help enlighten all stealth haters that this is supposed to be in good spirits on a still serious topic.

There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

I think they take Redlands for a few reasons. First, they beat the NWC Champs on the road. Also, Redlands would have won five games in a row and beat Cal Lu on the road. This is exactly where I think scheduling strong non-conference opponents makes the difference. Oxy has two wins over very weak opponents in Menlo & Lewis/Clark. Couple that with Oxy getting beat quite handily at home by Cal Lu and struggling against teams (CMS, Pomona) that Redlands beat by four touchdowns+ each. I just don't think they could leave a team out that was eight points away from a perfect season with a huge signature win. A lot of football still needs to be played.

RFB -

I think - if it were to come down to Redlands and Oxy for one last pick - they'd take whomever is ahead in the regional rankings, yeah? So far that has been Oxy, even after their loss. If Whitworth beats Linfield, that makes Redlands' win in Spokane look that much better. Also, Redlands beating Cal Lu would (not only be necassary but would also) raise their stock. But head-to-head results are kind of hard to overcome. It'll be interesting.

Also interesting will be the results from Central-Wartburg and SJU-Bethel on the 10th. Those will go a long way in determining how much room there is in Pool C.

I stand corrected and meant to say "Thugs that live or visit the area of Oxy."  It was not my intention to hurt anyones feelings and if I did, I most humbly apologize.

Redlands Will beat Cal. Lu.  I can't stand the Kingsmen and have good reasons why.

And those good reasons why are..............?

Oh come on WT . . . it's like so obvious . . .

Swede, who hates Cal Lu, is Swedish.

Scandihoovian . . . who is a big Cal Lu fan . . . is presumably Norwegian . . .

And we all know how bitter Swedes and Norges are to each other . . . based on Sweden's cruel yoke of oppression imposed upon Norway for centuries . . .

Either that, or it's a Lutheran thing . . . but I don't even want to go there . . . (forgive me Garrison Keillor) ;)

Being from Redlands, having gone to Cal Lu, being Lutheren and married to a Swede, I am all confused anyway. However, if the problem goes back to 1973 - 1976, then lets "roll" Ha!

C'Mon Tooth!

You're the last guy in the room I'd expect to be throwing around ethnic slurs  :D

I'm actually almost all Swedish - my grandparents were all of the old school Augustana Lutheran Church variety, which probably means nothing to anyone on this board.  I'll put it to you this way, my grandmother thought I was entering into a mixed marriage when I met a nice German Lutheran girl at CLU.

I think that synode used to be called the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church. Hey, what do I know, I can't even spell "Lutheren".

Scandi-You didn't happen to have an older sister at the "LU" in the seventies. I would hate to think I married your sister.  :o

The only real act of larceny that I recall was Daniel Tromello intercepting Dan Selway and running it back 74 yards, setting up Oxy's last score, which turned out to be the difference in the game, and which very well may be the TD that keeps Redlands out of the playoffs. Maybe someone from Redlands can pick Tromello out of a lineup. "That's him, officer! That's the guy who stole our Pool C bid!"

One last comment on this crappy subject. Once in awhile the "no spin zone" should take place and this is one of them. A very bad crime was committed against a visiting team while in the Oxy home. Occidental took responsibility for it and reportedly re-imbursed the Redlands football players for upwards of $13,000.

Over 50 young men had their wallets, ipods and personal items stolen. The only thing that should be commented about is the sympathy all of us should have for them with regards to drivers licenses, identy theft, credit card replacement, etc.

Paddymac's small infraction of blaming it on "oxy folks" was not right, but all of the posts after that statement missed the real issue and in my opinion were actually worse and went below the belt.

I know the intentions of all posts are meant in good spirit and humor, and I am sure these were no exception. But once in a while.......

I sure hope this is "the end" of this subject and let's get after each other on all the other stuff (which is a blast)
