Redlands should look to the ASC for games.  Those are in-region games.

HSU needs them.  I would like for ETBU and HPU to start scheduling more challenging D3's schools. (ETBU has had Trinity these last 2 years.)

Trinity had to allow room in its schedule for Colorado College and Birmingham Southern College, which joined the SCAC this year.

RT- Absolutely true. Trinity had no choice with regards to the scheduling change with Redlands. No knock to Trinity (actually meant to brag that were originally scheduled to play them again this year.)

First off, Congratulations to the Men in orange and black for their win against a good Chapman team. In addition, its great to finally hear that the Leo's got a W, i am sure that will be the talk in town ( La Verne's town that is) all week long.

We finally made it to the last week of SCIAC ball, in which all teams will fight for one last win that might send them to the playoffs or a win that is long needed during their tough season.

The "Battle for the Shoes" will re-light the old rivalry between the Tigers and Poets and should be the biggest game in which Oxy needs to focus, excute and play mistake free football. Even though many of the freshmen and other under class man will learn about this rivarly during the week, its important that they all stay focus and work their behinds off in practice. Since, this is whitter's last game of the season i am sure that they will be eager to come out play ball and hang in throughout the entire came (thus causing teams to get the fits). Yet, who ever plays error free football will indeed stay with the shoes this week.

As for this little game ( ;)  just kidding) that's occuring in T.o., boy, will it be interesting to hear about it this saturday. IMHO, I think the Dawgs win this game with a strong defense leading the way.

QuoteYou also failed to consider Redlands' impressive non-conference victory over NAIA powerhouse Haskell Indian Nations University. I know that the Redlands fans haven't mentioned it, because they are trying to forget that it ever happened.
The system does not allow 2 applauds in a 24 hour period. Suffice that this is requoted. Good one!

BE-  Are you saying that this will not be OXY's last game of the year?  Not picking a fight by any means, just wondering if you think they get in if UR beats CLU.

If Oxy wins out, the question of whether a Pool C bid becomes available remains . . . the new regional rankings may be an indicator when they come out, and we see what happens in light of Whitworth's win over Linfield as to the regional rankings.  Lot's of variables remain at play.

imho

Tooth-  I got ya.  When do the Regional Rankings come out?  Sorry, I am a rookie :)

WT,

Yup, imho, it will not be Oxy's last game. (this is my own opinion by the way). I know your not picking a fight.
I have a strong feeling that the pups walk away with a win because 1) these guys hate to lose to the Who (keeping this rivalry strong), 2) the dawgs finally have a chance to call themselfs co-champs after a long time if they win this game and 3) their defense keeps them in the game.
Yet, as tooth pointed out, there will be other factors that will help the men in orange and black get in through a Pool C bid.

Haha, good thing you pointed out that your still a newbie WT ;D

Here's the VC Star's article on the CLU-PP game.  We can all rest assured that they now have the playoff picture down correctly.  ;)

I'm obviously looking forward to Saturday's game, it's a lot of fun to have so much on the line at Mt. Clef Stadium in November .  Takes me back to the days of great Kingsmen comebacks in the rain against Linfield   :D (just a little shout out to D.O.C. and RBD)

To me it looks like a matchup of two teams that have gotten stronger as the season's porgressed.  Many of the Redlands backers on the board seem quite confident that the Dogs are a far superior team to the Kingsmen at this point in the season.  I am all for folks liking their chances, and if some of you would like to share your specific reasons I'd love to hear them.

Haskell won't be counted by the committee.

Not directly, but indirectly the Haskell game does affect Redlands.  One of the primary criteria for at-large Pool C bids is "Win-loss percentage against regional opponents." If Oxy and Redlands both win this coming Saturday, their season records will both be 8-1, but Oxy's regional record will be 8-1, while Redlands will be 7-1, so Oxy will have a better W-L % against regional opponents as one of the yardsticks to be considered. Plus, Oxy beat Redlands, and one of the other primary criteria is "In-region head-to-head competition."

OK.  I was too lazy to go through all this myself. :-[

So after all your complaining about Oxy's perennial schedule against weak sisters, they may benefit from one act of generosity by Maynard in helping the Native Americans at Haskell in their recruiting effort in Southern California.  With all the casino fallout, they may not even need financial assistance.  This is even though UR has a win over Whitworth.  Oh, the irony.

Redlands may have to take to the bottle.  That is something they may find easy to do since they already know how to hydrate...
