Oxy wasn't ranked in the top 25, they were 26.

They've spent most of the season ranked considerably higher than Whitworth. Today's regional rankings will be interesting.

I know. Was just pointing out their ranking at the time Redlands played them. Oxy is also 1-0 against the Top 25 as Redlands was ranked at the time.

Let's just hope that no matter who represents the SCIAC (CLU or Redlands) that they can get out of the the first round. The 2-5 record in post season is pretty bad considering that OXY and Redlands have had some pretty strong regular season ranked teams over the last few years. Sure there are O fer's in post season but come on.

If Redlands wants to schedule top 25 teams.... they might want to think about approaching Mount.

I would LOVE to see UR posters on that one. A team that wipes the floor with ONU and Capital.....

Pretty please, make my dreams come true. I'd fly down for that one.

(Would also accept UMHB, St. Johns, UWW, Capital, ONU, etc.)

Sidebar: Mount JV Team vs. Lewis & Clark..... 49-0

Redlands is 1-0 against Top 25 competition this year. When was the last time CMS beat a Top 25 team? When was the last time CMS won a SCIAC title? You fired the first volley, I'm just returning it.

When is the last time CMS had a winning season or better yet won more that three games in a row? ??? :'(

Who cares  ;D It's about CLU vs. Redlands from here on out.

New regional rankings:

http://www.d3football.com/dailydose/2007/11/07/third-regional-rankings/

So Oxy would go before Redlands (if there is only 'room' for one), and Whitworth is very much on the bubble (3rd Pool B or 7th Pool C).

Thanks Pat!

Some gut thoughts:

1.  If Cal Lu and Oxy win - Cal Lu gets the Pool A automatic qualifier and Oxy has a good shot at a pool C.
2.  If Redlands and Oxy win:  Cal Lu still gets the Pool A and the the difference between Redlands and Oxy gets more muddled, with Redlands having an increased shot at a Pool C, but still facing that h2h loss to Oxy as a hurdle . . . maybe it diminishes the chance of a 2nd SCIAC school?
3.  Have not paid enough attention to Pool B to offer any thought as to Whitworth's shot at that and, barring that, it seems that Pool C is pretty remote for the Pirates absent an Oxy loss?

[edit to add point 4] - of course, in the unlikely event of a water landing (Redlands wins with an Oxy loss), then the Dawgs would get the Pool A automatic based on the h2h w/ Cal Lu and Oxy is SOL.

fwiw, discuss

P.S. . . . FYI - "Pool B" and "Pool C" topic discussions over on the General Football board

Might have something to do with their 3 regional losses.  ::)

But fear not, you don't have to be in the rankings to earn a Pool A bid.

True but they were very early in the season. Should be an interesting ranking when CLU beats Redlands.

Actually, you are looking at the final regional rankings. They'll construct one more on Saturday evening...but never release it. I can promise you that Cal Lutheran would not wind up in the west top ten even if they hang 70 points on the Dawgs. They're just too many 0, 1, or 2 loss teams ahead of them - and the primary criteria is regional win-loss percentage.

Sabretooth Tiger

Well Tiger fans, Pat's weighed in and it looks like he thinks the Dawgs and Kingsmen will make the next round.

Go to:  http://www.d3football.com/dailydose/2007/11/07/projecting-the-playoffs-3/

Can't disagree . . . but I can become a Kingsmen fan for the weekend.

Go Tigers!!

And side note to FTP:  Hope LR's MRI turned out ok.

I'll try to be optimistic here tooth and continue to hope that Our boys get sent to the dance. However, in the mean time, its all about "the shoes" this upcoming weekend. For several tigers, it will be the last time they will defend the shoes and try to keep them at the rock, hopefully they can rally the team together and pull off a big win.
