Has anyone viewed the D3football article on espn.com by Chris Fowler?  I guess college football gameday will be broadcasting from Williams College this weekend! Thats great!

Looks like Pat, his staff, and D3football.com has really assisted in bringing D3 ball to the forefront!

Here is a link if you didnt read it!

Pretty sure he wasn't trying to slam the SCIAC there...I think it was more of a question of the reality of people being happy with tri-champions in a conference.  The playoffs aren't just a bonus...they're where you want (need) to be in order to have a successful season.  You can't tell me that whoever gets left out of the playoff mix in the SCIAC is going to be happy to say they shared the title with two other teams...Yippeeeeee...it happened to Linfield a few years ago...it sucked.  Whitworth, for that matter, if they get left out, is going to be pissed and all they'll be thinking about for a while is losing to Redlands and missing the playoffs, not beating linfield and winning the conference...

He did mention Linfield, it was just subliminally for those of us who remember the 2001 season  :-\

It's unfortunate that at 8-1 you don't get in.  I'm just not big on ties which is inevitable with the three way you've got going on right now...Hopefully I won't have to, but I'm sure my perspective would change if we have a 1-8 season...so taking that into consideration I can see your point.  :)

Fear the Poet

I'll take 8-1 any day, playoffs or not.

I'll take 4-5 anyday ;)
"using the whole fist there, Doc"

snoop dawg

Oxy had a great season and they should be very proud of their accomplishment of 4 in a row.  It almost equates to "dominance". ;)

Eye of da TIGER

Let me weigh in on this topic as a former Oxy player and one that went to the playoffs two years in a row. Going 8-1, and winning (tying this year) 4 straight SCIAC titles is a great accomplishment, that no one can take that from them. Yet, I can guarantee you that the Seniors on that team, who have gone to the playoffs the last 3 years in a row, will not be satisfied or happy about being co-conference champs and not going to the playoffs. While they will undoubtedly be proud of their college football careers, not going to the playoffs their senior year will not sit well with them for a while. Its like once you have success the only thing that will satisfy you is more success. Dont get me wrong, playoffs or not, these Oxy Tigers have nothing to hold their heads down about, they will have 4 titles, (one ring and three watches) so if they ever feel a little down, they can find solace in the fact that they have more championship jewelry than any other Oxy football player ever!
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

That's already assigned to Mt. Clef stadium.  ;D Just kidding guys/gals.

The Toilet Bowl?
There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

Sabretooth Tiger

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but remember that BEFORE we can be grateful for a FOURPEAT . . . Oxy has to beat Whittier and Cal Lu has to fall to Redlands.

Just sayin . . . it ain't over 'til it's over. ;)

Typical Redlands postgame loss analysis: "Except for losing the game, we would have won the game."

OxyBob
The Pool C controversy was all caused by the SCAC.  They added two teams this year.  As a result the Redlands/Trinity game and the Oxy/Colorado College games could not be played.  Redlands took Haskell and Oxy took Menlo as replacements.

Had the games been played, it is quite probable  that Redlands would lose and Oxy would win.  That would give Redlands two loses.

I hope Redlands would consider a three way tie an acceptable season.
