If OXY wins tonight who goes to the Playoff from the SCIAC and do any of the teams have a chance at Pool C?

Cal Lu goes due to the Rose Bowl rule. Redlands & Oxy would go to Pool C.

Great game by the bulldogs!! I predicted it would be 38 to 21, but it turned out 38 to 17!  The dogs showed a lot of class by taking a knee on the final drive.  They were on the 3 yeard line and could have punched it in bringing the score to 45-17....good decision just to take a knee!

"Would Oxy still be in the running and what about the whole Pool C picture? Doesn't look good for Whitworth unless I'm missing something"....

The Northwest Champ would not go and Redlands and Oxy could?  I see that Whitworth lost only 1 D3 game this season....the opener to Redlands. That won't get them in?

Props to Redlands for a good win today.  A huge part of football is taking advantage of your opponent's miscues, and the Dogs did a great job of that this afternoon.    I was especially impressed with the Redlands' D. The Kingsmen had their chances and the Bulldogs' D stepped up each time. For those of you who haven't seen him play, RBD's son is the real deal.

Obviously the playoff picture remains complicated, and I have never been a bigger Oxy fan than I am now  ;D

Snoop-
I know you're caught up in your post victory afterglow, but please remember you agreed this is a circular argument you can't win.  It is what it is.  If the Dogs had beaten Oxy they'd have nothing to worry about right now.  They are a good team, and I understand why their fans want them to have a chance to show it in the postseason, but I have to think you'd be loving the RBR if it helped your Dogs right now.

Congrats to Redlands on a well earned victory.

Here is some humble pie, my take on today's game.

Relentless pressure from the front seven carried the day for the Redland's defense.
Causing turnovers creates scoring opportunities which after making second half adjustments, Redlands Defense did to great effect.   Constant pressure on the qb led to interceptions and points scored by the Redlands defense.

The Cal Lutheran QB was so harried and rushed in the second half that poor choices were made. Interceptions, fumbles.  Poor offensive line play by cal Lutheran, specifically crappy pass blocking led to even greater mistakes and miscues by the offense as a whole.  The qb lost his poise and got knocked around a lot.  You could see the team had lost momentum in the second half.

Cal lu's best plays were short passing plays, mismatches in coverage of wr's being covered by LB's and their kicking game.

Cal Lutheran's defense did ok considering the short field they were often handed by offensive miscues.  The D created turnovers of their own after making 2nd half adjustments to the Redlands power running game.   However, CLU stayed with a pass defense while Redlands O ran the power I right down the middle more or less at will.

Special team's miscues by Redlands did give some opportunities to CLU that they were unable to capitalize on

Bottom line  Redlands deserved the victory as they took away the cal lu run game and harried the qb into making mistakes while limiting their miscues.   That and the Redlands run game was dominant.

Pretty much the wheels came off the clu wagon in the second half.

it was a class act to take a knee and let the time run out.
So hats off to Redlands! ;D

Whittier 14 Oxy 7:  few minutes left (in the first quarter I'm assuming)

Oxy goes for it on 4th and 8 from the Whittier 25, pass intercepted and Whittier takes over at their five after a penalty on the return.

Whittier 21 Oxy 14 early in the second.  Oxy gets the stop and takes over in good field position near midfield.

Looks to be a barn burner!

Heh ...

Whittier holds Oxy, gets the ball back after a touchback, one play 80 yard TD pass (which interrupted a D3football.com commercial, LOL) - 27-14 after the XP is blocked.  11:30 to play in the second quarter.

Did you hear the guys give me a "shout out"---now it's 27-21....better get some snacks---this one is gonna be entertaining!

And Oxy scores on a 4-play "drive", 67 yds, 27-21 now.    10:25 left in the first half.

Ron Boerger

Wow, a defensive struggle has broken out as we have seen punts on two consecutive series.   :D  Whittier takes over on about their 40 with 6 minutes and change before the half.

Oxy gets a 34-yd TD pass with a little over a minute left in the half, PAT is good and Oxy goes up 28-27.  The Poets can't do anything with it and that's how they go into the locker room.

Someone else is gonna have to pick this up ...  getting late here.  Fun game!

Tom Brady

Hats off to the Bulldogs.  Sounds like their "D" is the real deal.  I am checking in on the OXY/Whittier game and Whittier is about to take the lead.  Sounds like everything might fall in to place for the Bulldogs.  Good lord, Cal Lu will be kicking themselves for a while if Whitter ends up losing this game, but not a lot of people will belive they should have been this close in the first place.

I do have a question though....how is it Whitter can put up so many points on OXY and be this close to winning the game when so many teams have smoked Whittier????

Big props to the OXY broadcast guys, very good job of covering the game.
