40 points?

You haven't seen a "midwest" offense out in LaLa Land.
If you mean a bunch of slow, corn-fed, Hamms-drinking dudes, you are correct.   I do remember a team called the "Cobbers" looking at the backs of a lot of Oxy jerseys back in '04, however.

As for that game against Columbia, I'll bet the atmosphere was especially electric for Andres Escobar, the Columbian player who scored the own goal (he was shot and killed shortly after returning home in retaliation for his error - the gunman reportedly screaming "goal" each time he fired a shot into him). :P :P
And to think that some of us get upset when we get smote. :o

Let's not waste it discussing the poor man's hockey, OK?

This "hockey" you mention . . . that's the game played on ice right?  I prefer my ice in a margarita or in a cooler chillin' Coronas.

By the way . . . a "cooler" is something we use to chill beer . . . like your porch, only different.   8) ;)

Interesting--this "cooler" you speak of... Is it anything like our "trunk of a car"?  Because for 7 months out of the year, that's all we need to keep our PBR and Hamm's (that's midwestern for beer, FYI) both cold and convenient.

Yes . . . just like the trunk of a car . . . only insulated and portable . . . one car to another . . .

And while my knowledge of Hamm's is limited to the old cartoon commercials with what I recall to be a bear and a little native american boy . . .("Hamm's the beer refreshing . . . ") I am familiar with PBR . . . as follows:

First case or two:  A good ale or lager (Sierra Nevada, Redhook, Sam Adams) or Mexican beer

3rd and 4th cases (as taste become less relevant):  MGD . . . or similar . . .

5th case on (blind ass drunk) . . . PBR . . . though PBR will move up the list provided:

1.  It is really cold; and
2.  Someone else buys it!

My favorite beer is the next one.

And the Dawgs' will be in the fight . . . win by 3 . . . and move to round two.

Bingo Bob!
I always had this burning desire to hit people hard and just kicking the ball around seemed pointless. So once I talked my parents into football, they became addicts as well. Thanksgiving morning senior year of HS, my mother kicked me out of the house and to the gym.
I'll do my best to keep my kids from playing soccer. Field hockey for the girls and football for the boys.... in a good 10-15 years I hope.

You know, if my son continues to prefer karate and soccer over football and rugby, I'm cool with that . . . my kid isn't me.

you liar! :)

soccer is very much horrible to watch. All of my kids played soccer until they were old enough to play real sports. :) I do however miss terriblly the smell of Orange slices and the taste of capri sun on a sat morning.

40 points?

Yeah, let's start the discussion at 40 and see where it leads.

I'll admit, the Johnnies have had some scares this year--namely, UW-River Falls, Carleton and, of course, the loss to Bethel.  The common denominator in those three games?  All on the road.

In Collegeville, the Johnnies have put up 55 points against OAC foe Marietta, 62 against Augsburg (including 49 before pulling the starters at the half), 52 against the typically more-than-competitive Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers, 30 against St. Olaf, and 51 against rival St. Thomas.

That's a total of 250 points--50 per game.  Check out my earlier post over on the MIAC page or at www.JohnnieFootball.com--our quarterback, Alex Kofoed, is legit at home (and decidedly less so on the road).

So let's hear it--how are the Pups going to stop the Johnnies from moving the ball up and down the Clemens Stadium SprinTurf?

Redlands success will be dependent on being able to pressure the Johnnie offense. Redlands has a strong, physical defense that has relied on pressuring offenses all season. On offense Redlands has been able to rely on both a power running game and a spread, five receiver offense. Redlands is very balanced and they provide a lot of different looks.

Redlands also has a dominating win against NWC Champion Whitworth on the road. Whitworth got jobbed this year by the selection commitee. They beat a very good Linfield team. Redlands is playing with a lot of confidence and has blown out five straight opponents. If the Redlands offense can move the ball and limit turnovers and play their pressure game then it should be a great game.

In Texas they use the glove compartment. ::)  Right, Hud?

snoop dawg

I'll take the bet that the Johnnies dont drop 40 right now......... ;D

Hamms beer?   Hell, we didnt even drink that racoon pi$$ when I lived in Pittsburgh, Iron City, brewed from the scungy water of the Ohio River was even better. ;)

Having recently been in Minnesooooooota, I can say that the locals were some of the friendliest people Ive ever met.

Too bad the Johnnies will have a two game losing streak going after this weekend. :D ;)  Listen to RFB....He speaketh the truth!

EastCoastStag

While we're on the subject of beer.. switching to food - any UoR fans going out for the game need to have some real Minnesoooooota long grain wild rice. Stuff is great. There's a restaurant chain called "Grandma's" (I believe). Used to go there with my sister when she was in the Twin Cities. Loved it for the rice.

Anyways. the most important question not yet asked, or so it seems, is there a video feed of the game (for free preferably). The OSU / Mich game has the potential to be boring. I would much prefer to watch a DIII game.

snoop dawg

Maybe OB or tooth can help me out on this.......

In the Oxy-Whit game, did Goeltz get pulled or did the coach decide to let the senior QB play the last quarter?

Perhaps, but Concordia gets they're players from N. Dakota and Montana.  These MN boys will rock your socks off.

No, we don't have that technology in central MN.

Whitworth & Linfield have it. I was able to watch the Redlands/Whitworth game online, it was very cool.
