DustySJU fires me up!  I respect St. Johns, but I hope Redlands comes out swinging!!!!  I am looking for the Johnnies to get punched right in the mouth!!!  I expect the boys from Redlands to represent the SCIAC and the community of Redlands well this Saturday....turn it into a street fight!!!!  The more physcial team will win this game!!!

That team will be Redlands!  Its Tuesday night...by tradition the boys are practicing right now....what is St. Johns doing at the very moment to prepare for the game????

Only 5 days to go!!!!!  Can't wait to meet some of the St. Johns fans!

I dunno, probably working on their pre-game jumping jack routine or something.  Either that or studying for their classes tomorrow.

You can probably add "Redlands will spend more time on the practice field this week" to the list of claims that won't elicit an argument from St. John's fans.

I don't think that was meant as an insult. Redlands has their ways and so does SJU. So if you are going to take that as a cheap shot, look back at what said prior (what is SJU doing to prepare). They're doing exactly what they do year in and year out and what has made them successful. So I wouldn't worry about what they are doing.

I'm not sure how turning a game into a street fight represents the Community of Redlands well??? The last time that happened in a game Miami decided to go ghetto on FIU. I believe Redlands would be better served playing a football game with well-executed strategy than trying to be like the U. Although, if UoR has a 7th Floor Crew, they might as well attempt it. As for punching someone in the mouth, the last time I did that in a game I got a personal foul penalty... again, not sure that UoR needs to be accumulating pfs like that. But, if you really think that will win the game.. by all means see where it gets the team.

I know the point(s) you were trying to make. I just wanted to have a little fun.
However, the way SJU practices and prepares is something in which I would assume the team, coaches, university, alums, etc all take pride in. And under Gagliardi's reign, the team has been one of the most successful teams in all of college football.

Now I know that I'm coming off as a SJU guy here. I respect the hell out of the team and will pull for them should they move on. But, first and foremost I want the SCIAC to win. Yes, between the white lines I couldn't stand Redlands... at all. But outside of the lines I have respect for their program and what they have accomplished. So yes, I'll be pulling for them to win. However, it's silly and pointless to question the preparation of SJU.

Let's stick to figuring out match ups of player v player.

EastCoastStag,

Your soft.  The street fight should never be compared to Miami at all.  I was not saying we should go out and fight the players and rack up penalties...Redlands needs to come out and throw the first punch.  St. Johns did in 02...went 80 yards in 9 plays....they came out and set the tone.  If Redlands wants to compete they will need to set the tone.

I don't know how good of a football player you were, and I really dont care, but every football player should crave being more physical than his opponent.  If you are concerned with the "match ups" then maybe thats why you played at CMS. Redlands breeds guys who love contact...guys who want to get after it.  We don't like soft football players......

I didnt take TC's post personal at all.....

EastCoastStag has a "crush" on St. Johns....its like the first time seeing the head cheerleader when going to high school...he gets butterflies in his stomach when he reads anything about St. Johns....he hopes St. Johns will ask him to the prom.

Stop being consumed with them!  St. Johns has a rich tradition...yes that's true....but so does Linfield, Pacific Lutheran, and Redlands etc...
If I did not know any better I would think you were their SID!

How come Redlands ducks Linfield everytime we try to set up a non-conference game with them then?  Sounds kinda soft to me... :P

redlandsfan

Downtown,

I dont know much about why Redland does not play Linfield...I played them in 02, and they were legit...like I have said a thousand times...I also played St. Johns that year, and have no idea how Linfield lost to them.  I don't know if Redlands ducks Linfield....but I know Redlands beat Whitworth, and you guys lost to them...so you have to give credit where its due.

redlandsfan

I need input from multiple sources on this one....

From to to bottom....which confrence is better, the MIAC or the Northwest Conference???

downtown48

Win a playoff game and I'll give credit...and I can tell you 100% without a shadow of a doubt that it is fact that Redlands ducks Linfield...tell your boy Maynard you want to beat them while they're down, we need another D3 game!

Not real sure about 02 but I can tell you how Linfield lost in 03...Blake Elliot couldn't be contained in the second half when Gags moved him to tailback, it was sick!

Better conference...NWC/MIAC...depends on the year...

The Johnnies shy away from contact - absolutely - that's why they have such short practices.  They're "soft."

Northwest has direct flights from LAX to Minneapolis St. Paul (MSP), so there's still time to get a ticket.  Nothing better than to pay to see your team lose in Collegeville.

Downtown.

Sorry to ask such a difficult question....I know your brain capacity can only handle so much.  Well because Redlands was the Northwest Conf. Champ this year...lets use 07 as an example...who is stronger...the NWC...or the MIAC?

and yes...Redlands was the NWC champ this year.

Your livid right now aren't you?   :D

redlandsfan

Tmerton,

I already have my plane ticket...I would not miss this game for the world!!!  I will be in early Friday evening....

So now what?

EastCoastStag

"You're soft" .... perhaps why you went to Redlands.

I don't have a crush on SJU. Tom Brady perhaps... but to be serious, I care for no team other than my own. My helmet sits on my nightstand and my team pictures cover my walls.

As for soft. I have better things to do with my life than worry about what somewhat else thinks about my career.
I transferred to CMC for simple reasons - alumni connections and the name on my degree. If Redlands had the reputation that CMC does on Wall Street or in D.C., then it may have made my Top 10 list. But, you don't. That is what I wanted and that is what I found. In the original process, I turned down several opportunities to walk-on at scholarship programs (though, based on the performance of ND this year, not much can be said for forecasting talent of a 17 year old), but I turned them down for my first school out of the desire for the small college game and life. I kept it going with my move to CMC. What did I get? A losing record... yeah sure. But I got 18 more games of football with a group of guys that meant the world to me. As a player? I have no need to defend my record. I did what was asked of me each and everytime I stepped on the field. Did I crave to be more physical than the other guy? F*ck yes I did. I rarely if ever had the advantage, either he was bigger or he was faster or both. But from the time I hit the field on my first snap as an 18 year old on a muggy day in KY to my last at Zinda against Oxy, I never gave in. Matchups? Yeah, it is called film study. It is called knowing the depth chart across the field from you and knowing every single player you could face be it 1st string or 3rd and knowing exactly how you will beat him.. either by beating his a$$ into the ground or beating him to the corner. I played to win and I played to beat my guy in the scheme.
I don't need to beat my chest, swing my c*** around or any of that bull****. I played the game. I played to win.. and I came to smack the guy across from me in the face on each and every single play.
One thing I have that you don't is class. You lack tact and class. You want to call me out? Fine. So be it. But if you really think you are some BSD, lets go. Strap on the m*therf*cking pads and bring it. I'll beat your f*cking ass into the ground.
Don't you dare question a player's heart or desire on the field.
I don't see a single person here questioning the heart and desire of Redlands last year when they had a terrible start. I don't see anyone here questioning the heart of Oxy last week in their loss to Whittier.
Don't you dare question mine from behind a keyboard.

Why would I be livid?  The NWC has two more National Championships than you have playoff wins...I'm not worried about the pecking order, you've got a long way to go.  Let's start with one win, then we'll talk.   ::)
