About time everyone woke up out there...  Let's touch on a few things:

We all know the Johnnies have a history of success - and that success should be rewarded.  Down here in SoCal we've learned that in order to get a home game you have to set the world on fire in going undefeated and hope the NWC gets two teams in so the NCAA is willing to send someone south.  ;D

I mentioned this to someone in a PM--the SCIAC is certainly growing in stature since the beginning of the decade, based in large part on Occidental winning some playoff games a couple years ago.  If Redlands had been undefeated this year, I don't see why they wouldn't have gotten a home game (especially with UW-Whitewater being moved).  Still, conference championship or not, the Johnnies only regular season loss was to the #2 seed in the bracket while the Bulldogs lost to a non-playoff team--I think the game being in Collegeville is the right call.
I was surprised to see the movement of teams between brackets this year.  We can only hope that combined with the strength of the NWC and what's starting to shape up as a much more competitive race in So. Cal. start to see more and more playoff games out this way.  We can only hope that it's a sign the NCAA is loosening the reigns a little on the travel rules.

This was the first time in some time that the SCIAC has had a legitimate 3 team race to the top of the conference.  I'm rooting for Redlands :o to get out there and make some noise this year and as the conference grows more competitive we'll be looking to get two SCIAC teams (that aren't going to end up playing one another in the first round) into the field of 32.  Should be a great week of games.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

My first prediction.....

Redlands 34

St. Johns 27

Both teams will move the ball....I think Redlands has the better defense, and the offenses are a wash.....

Another prediction will be made on Friday!

I love the enthusiasm of FtP & wife. You guys have been great and will be for another 3 years.

OxyO - I'd love for the SCIAC to get two teams in. Hopefully everyone schedules some quality out of conference opponents and puts up winning records out of conference. It is do-able.

The funny thing is I've been on strike for the past year and a half, the Writers Guild just recently joined me in a sympathy strike.  It's about time too.

TC-

I fully agree with this statement.  If the Dogs had beaten Oxy they'd have a much stronger argument to host.

For argument's sake, however, I'd just like to throw this out there.  I am wondering what it is about St. John's and Bethel's non conference performance this season that should make them so highly regarded?  For example: Bethel lost this season to a .500 team from the IIAC.  The Johnnies non-conference wins came against losing teams (albeit from good conferences).

I'm not sure a team that scheduled Haskell Indian Nations University is in a place to talk about non-conference schedules. :(

PS.. CarlosRossiLep, did you see those guys get ejected from the game this past saturday? So much for having school spirit I guess... They were only cheering. I think that security officer must have had a chip on his shoulder...

Yeah, I heard about that  ::).  To paraphrase something a friend said that day "I wish La Verne would try to act like a real school just once."

Ah well, there's always next year.

Good luck Redlands make us proud.

Cupcakes don't come with more frosting than Haskell, and I think all the Redlands folks on this board (I'm actually a Cal Lu supporter) would be quick to tell you that.  I am also not out to criticize St. John's or Bethel for scheduling complete patsies, as I don't think that's the case at all.  I guess what I was commenting on is that neither of the MIAC playoff teams has a big non conference win, which Redlands does (on the road at Whitworth - who ran the table in the NWC, and probably got left out when the Johnnies lost the AQ to Bethel).  In other words, I am wondering what evidence there is, from this season, to firmly establish that the MIAC is a strong conference, other than the fact that it's widely accepted that the MIAC is always a strong conference.

The only reason that UR.......Ohhh never mind. ;)

Pat, great job on the team capsules......that took alot of time and effort.  It was really interesting to find out about some of the teams that I wasnt really familiar with.  Like the Johnnies...... ;)

On the MIAC vs the SCIAC......The talent at the top is very close, imo, but the MIAC  has a big advantage with the teams in the middle and near the bottom.
