Since the off-season has started for the SCIAC I thought everyone could give an outlook on their teams returning starters and potential replacements. Here is what Redlands looks like.

Overall: 14 Returning Starters (Offense: 7  Defense:7)

Offense:
QB: Dan Selway (Steve Smith)
RB: Zach Schafer (Jeff Stewart, Tom Romaine, George Foreman)
OL: Jared Schwass, Travis McBride, Rick Albrecht (Matt Vasquez)
WR: Brendan Barkate, Brian Putnam (Sean Scott, Evan Rueter, Jarett Enis, Jake Lacey, Nick Schroeder, John Pearson)
Kicker: Joe MacMillan

Overall: Redlands will be very strong with Dan Selway returning and also Steve Smith who got some very valuable experience filling in at St. John's when DS was injured. Also, the entire backfield combination crew returns. The OL returns three starters with Matt Vazquez getting starting experience this year. At WR Kyle Godfrey will be missed but a steady, experienced group returns. Look to Redlands to return a high profile offense next year.

Defense:
DL: Brock Arndt, Nick Burreal, Mitch Crocco, Gavil Gabriel (Tyler Sutton)
LB: Ed Stamm, Mack Gordon (Josh Cunningham)
DB: Jordan Moss (Nick Graves, Jared Fink, Mike Niccolini)

Overall: Redlands returns six out of their front seven. The Redlands DL will be the best in the SCIAC and one of the strongest in the West. At LB the unit loses a strong leader in Kris Richardson but returns Ed Stamm & Mack Gordon. Look to Josh Cunningham to be the frontrunner to step into the third spot. The Redlands secondary will be hit hard with the loss of three starters and defensive Captain Brad Smith. However, the unit is experienced and should gel with more playing time.

Special Teams: Joe MacMillan returns at Kicker and got plenty of experience this year. He has a strong leg and will be a strong go to asset next year. Punter will get some more focus in recruiting as the Dawgs struggled this year pinning opponents in field position. The return game will lose all everything Kyle Godfrey as he has held down the return duties for four years. He brought toughness and speed and will be missed. The Redlands coaching staff has big shoes to fill here.

2008 Outlook: Redlands returns a very strong, experienced team. The coaching staff has always recruited well and should have a strong recruiting year due to the success of the 2007 team. Redlands is poised to compete for another SCIAC Championship and playoff berth.

Sorry.
The best player from the SCIAC is still alive in the playoffs at least. He had a very eventful game today beating Capital.
There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

Not sure if this got picked up by the SCIAC posters earlier if so Stealth apologizes.
Ex CLU head coach Scott Squires was fired after only one season as speical teams coach with the Edmonton Eskimoes of the CLU. Not sure of all the details but it looks like a bunch of special teams breakdowns and injuries led to his demise.  :( :(

Wow! That was unexpected. I'm sure he will get some consideration for DIII openings should he pursue them. Good luck to him in his next endeavor.

Sorry for the typos I'm on my crackberry and these frickin keys are just to small. The firing was a surprise considering he inherited a terrible squad to begin with and only had one year to try and turn things around. Firing may have had something to do with his freind, I think the OC getting fired as well. Wish him and his family the best. He is a class act.

Newcomer of the Year is a new category this year.

The Players of the Year in the SCIAC don't pour it on by also taking away a spot on the First Team. :)
