Congrats Danny Jones.

Congrats UWW Warhawks. What a win.

A changing of the guard.

But, as UWW will lose both DJ and JB, edit: MUC is a logical choice to start off next year as the favorite.

What a year.

edit: Enjoy it UWW. You all earned it and you all deserve it. Classy champions.

Sabretooth Tiger

MUC pass deflected, UWW intercepts . . . all UWW has to do is take a knee on one offensive play and it's over!

CONGRATULATIONS TO DANNY JONES AND THE WARHAWKS!!

Final:  31-21 UWW over MUC.

The game is over . . . GOOD NIGHT IRENE.

D O.C.

I'd like to congratulate Danny Jones on...........whoops!

snoop dawg

Congrats to DJ and UWW...I guess he made the right decision.

...it all comes down to the fact that MUC is just a little more rested than UWW right now.

If it goes the way most people think, it won't be because they are more rested, it will be because The Mount is head and shoulders above the rest of Div. 3 at this point.  I really can't it explain it...everbody else needs to figure it out, it's actually kind of embarrasing that nobody can compete with them over the last 15 years.

Mount in a walk....UWW is very good but MUC is just too good.

Nice call 11, great prognosticating as always...

Hey jackass. Ok we were all wrong. Mount was/is a machine and no matter how good the OAC and their playoff competition was, they had, as a team, very little experience playing close games. I'd say play 10 games and these two teams split it 50/50. In this case, I was wrong in saying that UWW's close games would wear them out. Rather, it gave them the edge. We all, as a board, went with history and what we had seen. This did not mean we thought less of UWW, but based on the facts placed infront of us, we took the safe bet. I would wager, that probably all of us were pulling for UWW. Two great teams slugged it out. A few breaks, a little more desire and Justin Beaver / Danny Jones was the difference. Pierre Garcon was bottled up (and to be frank, I don't think he's quite good enough to be a draft pick). End of story. Like I said 50/50 if they play 10.
Taking nothing away from UWW. They played, they won. They are the better team until Week 1 next year - they are champions. They earned it after coming so close for the previous 2 years. Congrats to them. It is about time for them and good to see Mount knocked off.
Congrats to both teams for a fantastic game.

Go Warhawks.

GO STAGS!
You boys better be getting ready for next year now. Take a page from these teams - championships are won not just on the field, but on the track; on the practice field; in the weightroom; and in the film room. Condition to be football players; lift to be football players; eat (right) to be football players; and start watching film now. Do it as a team. Championships aren't won doing curls for the girls or doing 12/40oz curls... fill those kegs with sand or cement. You have the rest of your life to drink and lay in the sun.

Time to start formulating a Top 25 for next year and making predictions.

Happy Kwanza to all!

Congrats to my boy Alex on getting All-America, although I would have been surprised if he didn't get it.  He was absolutely dominant this year.

GF: thanks for the PM.  I hope you had fun looking for clues to my identity!  I majored in Economics for Business Management, with a Minor in mathematics.  Thanks for the well wishes about classes, but I have no more of those!  This was my last semester, am I'm now a college graduate [gulp]

It's probably pretty fun to watch football in Texas, eh?.  I imagine that it's a completely different atmosphere (at any level) than most other places.  It's too bad Oxy never was able to travel out there when I was playing, although it's completely understandable why we didn't because no Texas schools are in the West Region.

BHOTBruceOxy

oh, I also wanted to piggyback everyone else and congratulate Danny Jones and UWW on their victory.  He might have been unable to beat the TIGERS when he was in SoCal, but I'm sure it gave him some great experience for learning how to win big games!    :P <--- does this face count for showing sarcasm?

ECS, a few points after reading your post.  First off I do not think that UWW had more desire than MUC.  I think that both teams had equal desire.  It basically came down to two things:  Conditioning and game planning.  Let me compare MUC to the New England Patriots.  Up until the Indy game they had been rolling by wide margins.  But you saw Brady and Co. playing late into the game.  MUC was rolling by wide margins all year as well.  How many of the starters played the entire 4th quarter.  No, they were resting the horses for the following week.  This has nothing to do with desire, I would be my life in the 4th quarter that MUC was still full of it and thinking they can win.  Its all in your brain.  if you only play to a certain point in a game week after week your brain only knows how to go that far.  Metal fatigue might have played into this.
Lets take a look at an IIAC team Central College.  These guys played close games for the past two years.  You saw their loss in the playoffs was a blowout due to many things but it was still a blowout.  You did not see Central droping close games in the 4th quarter or OT.
You point to splitting 10 match ups.  I disagree, I think the MUC team properly prepared and playging more close games during the season does beat UWW more than 5 times.  I will say 7 out of 10.  Both squads put on one heck of a show and it was UWW days.  MUC had been there to many times and won to many games to roll over in the title game.

I think that Texas Games have recently been made to be considered "in Region" for SCIAC teams.  Pat or Ralph or others can set us straight on that.

BTW - Welcome to the real world.  Now the FUN starts.

Klopenhiemer,

MUC playing Averett has got to be even worse preparation than those we often discuss on this board.

Pat Coleman

They have been regional games for SCIAC schools the past two years, yes.

So what you're saying is Mount should have beaten everyone 110-0 rather than 60 and then had everyone bitching because they were running up the score?

I'm not being facetious, it may be a valid argument. But that's what would happen as it is with the Patriots. It's a no-win situation when you're in that spot.
