Two words:  THE STREAK

Gray Fox

QuoteOh, it's a long, long while from may to december
But the days grow short when you reach september
When the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
One hasn't got time for the waiting game

Oh, the days dwindle down to a precious few
September, november
And these few precious days I'll spend with you
These precious days I'll spend with you

Sounds like a D3Football fan to me. :'(

Fall is my favorite season!

If I were OxyBob, I could play around with that song and make it so that it was all about football.

Hey ...

I see where U. of Dubuque is scheduled to play U. of Redlands on Sept. 13.  That's one hell of a long road trip!  Anyone know if Redlands will make the trip to Dubuque in 2009?

UD had a solid team (7-3 including a triple-overtime loss to Central) this past season ... but graduates 22 seniors, including Aztec Bowl MVP, QB Jermar Jackson ... and they will need to fill a key positions on both offense and defense.

How does Redlands look for the '08 season?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Since the off-season has started for the SCIAC I thought everyone could give an outlook on their teams returning starters and potential replacements. Here is what Redlands looks like.

Overall: 14 Returning Starters (Offense: 7  Defense:7)

Offense:
QB: Dan Selway (Steve Smith)
RB: Zach Schafer (Jeff Stewart, Tom Romaine, George Foreman)
OL: Jared Schwass, Travis McBride, Rick Albrecht (Matt Vasquez)
WR: Brendan Barkate, Brian Putnam (Sean Scott, Evan Rueter, Jarett Enis, Jake Lacey, Nick Schroeder, John Pearson)
Kicker: Joe MacMillan

Overall: Redlands will be very strong with Dan Selway returning and also Steve Smith who got some very valuable experience filling in at St. John's when DS was injured. Also, the entire backfield combination crew returns. The OL returns three starters with Matt Vazquez getting starting experience this year. At WR Kyle Godfrey will be missed but a steady, experienced group returns. Look to Redlands to return a high profile offense next year.

Defense:
DL: Brock Arndt, Nick Burreal, Mitch Crocco, Gavil Gabriel (Tyler Sutton)
LB: Ed Stamm, Mack Gordon (Josh Cunningham)
DB: Jordan Moss (Nick Graves, Jared Fink, Mike Niccolini)

Overall: Redlands returns six out of their front seven. The Redlands DL will be the best in the SCIAC and one of the strongest in the West. At LB the unit loses a strong leader in Kris Richardson but returns Ed Stamm & Mack Gordon. Look to Josh Cunningham to be the frontrunner to step into the third spot. The Redlands secondary will be hit hard with the loss of three starters and defensive Captain Brad Smith. However, the unit is experienced and should gel with more playing time.

Special Teams: Joe MacMillan returns at Kicker and got plenty of experience this year. He has a strong leg and will be a strong go to asset next year. Punter will get some more focus in recruiting as the Dawgs struggled this year pinning opponents in field position. The return game will lose all everything Kyle Godfrey as he has held down the return duties for four years. He brought toughness and speed and will be missed. The Redlands coaching staff has big shoes to fill here.

2008 Outlook: Redlands returns a very strong, experienced team. The coaching staff has always recruited well and should have a strong recruiting year due to the success of the 2007 team. Redlands is poised to compete for another SCIAC Championship and playoff berth.

Trinity Wins Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year
The "Trinity Play" has been named the Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year, beating out plays from Auburn, LSU, and Appalachian State to win the award.  The win gives Trinity a $100,000 scholarship to the school's general scholarship fund.

Trinity/Millsaps' Must See Moment

I think I was more excited about this than the outcome of the game.  An email I recieved from a friend this morning sums it up; "I'm not sure why people keep thinking Big 10 teams are national championship worthy.  Here's a list of teams that would beat the crap out of Ohio St. - LSU, Mizzou, USC, and Georgia.  And that's just the very top of the list, there's more."
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

All in good fun. How many beers did Mrs. 11 get you to drink before you agreed to that one?

Beers...none.  I've known Coach Stewart for a long time and have a great deal of respect for her.  She asked me if I would be willing to put something together and I was more than happy to pitch in.

Here's a nice obit honoring Oxy Alum and Wilson High Coach Vic Cuccia.

Sounds like he had quite a career.

coco

He sounds like quite a guy.

Is St. Mary's the one in Moraga? Interesting that a small college like that would be in the Sugar Bowl. Maybe it was not such a big deal back then.
I've never heard of the Raisin Bowl.

Coco,

I think after 49' the raisin bowl went defunct. However, i am sure you can send both Sabertooth and OxyBob a message about this bowl, as i believe both guys played on this team :P
