Tooth, you've been gone too long.

Mrs. Coco and I visited Iowa a couple years ago, and we loved it. It's beautiful country. There were interesting places to visit, and the nicest people you could imagine.

We got to renew acquaintances with some IIAC posters and meet others for the first time. We were able to watch a Wartburg football game at Waverly with the Warthog family,  and DutchFan1 gave us a tour of the Central campus as well.

We visited a presidential library, ate some awesome steaks, and brought home some good wine.

However, I'll take the left coast, too, or Hawaii.

Coco,

Did you just say you visited Iowa and brought home some "good wine?" ? ? ? ? ?

I gotta go w/ Klop here . . . pork, beef, corn . . . sure . . . but Iowa wine????

Sorry . . . can't buy that one . . .

Walla Walla, sure . . . but not Cedar Rapids . . .

Now . . . Hawaii . . . . now you talkin' bruddah,

aloha,

I am an Iowan at heart who now lives in Chicago.  Iowa does offer some very nice things.  Great pork and beef.  Excellent bang for your buck on housing.  Limited air quality issues, less congested streets, and the 4 seasons.  If you have never experienced the 4 seasons, I can understand why you would not want to.

I do have to say one thing that IA does lack in a lot of cases in formitable employment for the educated young adults.  If you are interested in working for Wells Fargo, Principal Financial Group, or anyother insurace/finacial related fields then Des Moines has a lot of offer.  Hence why I moved to a larger market.

Tooth...I have been to Pasadena, and you have a great location if that is where you are living.

In the days of my youth (yes, BE, back before electricity and indoor plumbing . . . in the days of leather helmets and going "both ways" meant offense and defense, not dating habits) it used to be Collins in Cedar Rapids.

Tooth believe it or not there are some fine wineries in IA.  I had to call a buddy of mine who is in the resturant/hospitality business and he told me there were a couple places in the SE part of the state that are starting to catch on nationally.  I would not do sit ups until you find if that works out or not, but I might be a new trend.

I can see the headlines now

"Poobutt, IA replaces Nappa as the most coveted wine hotspot in the U.S"
"If Rome was built in a day, then we would have hired their contractor"

I love that show.

"Look, Mr. Hansen, she told me she was 18, er, 16, er, 14. And I just happened to be in her town on business even though I live 500 miles away and I'm unemployed. And I have no idea how that box of condoms, and the handcuffs, Wild Turkey, and Ruffies got in my car."

Isn't there just one show that they rerun weekly? :-X

Tooth,

Yes, the Iowa wines were not bad. Mrs. C is more the wino, er wine drinker than I am, and she liked them. They were certainly better than the Hawaii wines.

Ah, Predator. Our favorite show. We laugh and hoot at all those dumbasses when they say it was their first time doing such a thing, and they'll never do it again. Sure, buddy, sure. They've got plenty of nerve thinking some middle school girl would come within 50 feet of most of them.

Right now the only thing they are drinking in Iowa is Jagermeister to stay thawed out.  ;D See the temp. in Debuqe yesterday and today ?  -8 degrees. Brrrr.
Bizarre how the predators come from all walks of life. Doctors, lawyers, police, etc. They have excluded the politicians and clergy as they get enough free press. My understanding is that when these guys, why no girls, get caught and they go to jail they become the hunted not the hunter. Ironic.

KS was just checking out the VFW website and found this news article. The National Commander in Chief of the VFW has condemned the City of Berkely CA regarding their treatment of the Marine recruiting station.  They even give the phone numbers, addresses and email addresses of the city council members.  Anyone who thinks their actions are deplorable are encouraged to let them know how they feel.

That stunk! Didn't they get enough heat that they had to rescind that idiotic rule of theirs?
We all know that Berkeley is liberal, but that crossed the line.

One of our offspring went to grad school at Cal a few years ago and she lived on Telegraph Ave, not too far from the campus. I've never seen so many freaks and weirdos in my life. It made Kalakaua Ave look like a Sunday school.

So Coco are you sure you wern't mistaken about where you were at.  Possibly you were at a Wildcat tailgate function drinkin high Octaine Longies and eating Chowder !!!  That is enough to distort your vision my man.

Wildcat Saturdays and everything about them are all good, GHC, except for those rare days when someone comes in and pees in our cat box.

We're not going to let that happen this year, are we? Coach Smith and his gang are going to have the boys ready to go, and a little Ford added to the mix will be just what we needed.

At last check, this is the SCIAC board, not the NWC.

Now, as for peeing in the catbox, that sounds incredibly intimidating. I am shaking.. just thinking about having to change the litter? Make sure to get the kind that smells fresh and clumps for when someone really lays a rotten one.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Stag,

Awfully unwelcoming comment . . . in case you haven't noticed over the past couple of years . . . there are periodic episodes involving much cross-over between the NWC and SCIAC boards . . . given our shared Pacific Rim roots and all . . . no NWC poster has ever told any of us to shove off . . . well, actually they have, but not because we're posting on their boards but because it's part of the same piss and vinegar we give each other . . .

So to my NWC bruddahs . . . tooth says aloha and mi casa es su casa.
