Fear the Poet

FTP, does L.R. have to wait until track is over to start all of the football related workouts or is he able to work with the team?
[/quote]

he practices with the Track team and lifts with football.  As soon as any spring football starts, LR will be there. :)

by the way, what is the reason for Chapman not being part of the sciac? They play everyone anyway.  I'm sure Bob has an answer for me.  Thanks
FTP,
I remembered a conversation I had in December 2006 that I had sent in a private message in case this subject came up again.

I had a long talk with the Chapman basketball assistant coach.  I asked him what he knew about Chapman and the SCIAC relationship. The coach has been at Chapman eleven years and is a friend of Coach Newhall at Oxy.

He said that when Chapman first tried to get into the SCIAC, they were rejected because the SCIAC felt that the recent addition of La Verne and CLU had lowered the academic level.  They gave Chapman a list of qualifications that they were to meet before they could join.  He says they have now met those, and they feel they are now better than half the SCIAC schools.  Now the SCIAC is using the excuse of not wanting a nine team league.

He went on to say that they have offered Chapman a membership for football.  The reason for that is as an insurance policy to having seven teams.  The reason for that is that Pomona may drop out.  Whether to just drop football or to drop out altogether was not clear to me.  He thought that Pomona dropping out altogether will never happen.  I would certainly agree to that.  The Chapman AD rejected the football only offer and wants complete membership.

The next day I talked to a Chapman parent who pointed out that Chapman is twice as big as most SCIAC schools.

I hope this helps.

that all makes perfect sense..thank you. I wish they were in.

From what my son tells me of DJ...the post is uncharacteristic.  Maybe it was just pent up frustration over all the garbage that was said about him not only on this board but others.  I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt.  Hopefully, his next post will be more realistic of his true colors.

I figure DJ had the right to address those who talked badly about him. His post was addressed to those people, not the entire board.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

That would be my take on it and can't say I really blame the kid.       +Karma to you and JF.

I hope by the time Stealth gets back he'll have learned the proper protocol in using the quote function AND then follow it with a response.

I have to say that we (Linfield fans) were pretty hard to take after 2004 but at least I can say our QB never came on PP to run smack and make himself look like an a**.  That had to be a first.

In all fairness, WC11,  I don't recall ever reading one word of smack talked about Elliott.  I suspect he never felt like he needed to defend himself.

Yes, on the old board in 2004 nobody ever called Elliott a D1 washout who couldn't hack it at Utah.  That never happened.   ;)

I'm guessing that he never felt like he had to defend himself because he won a National Title, went 23-1 as a starter, and was named the division's most valuable player.  He let his play do all his talking.

I don't mind that Jones defended himself but he went about it poorly, IMO.

He could have worded his post differently, but we all have, me especially, posted one way and it was read with an entirley different meaning.

True OB...I questioned why he would want to go and how he got there...whats wrong with that?  As to his playing ability...I said that I didnt think he was a pro type
QB......that is hardly a knock, however, he was a great college qb.  I dont think that is being critical, and I certainly did't intend it to be so.  I think that is just OB's personal view of my post.

I called out DJ for his move and stand by my comments about him to this day. It was nothing but a selfish, screw my teamates and program move. Sorry if I don't buy the coach left argument. He helped lead Cal Lu back to prominence and I give him credit for that. Sure he won a ring but I really wonder what he could have done at Cal Lu his last year. They were tough last year with patch work play at QB. Detractors to my argument will say he won a ring. I disagreee, he missed a much bigger opportunity to lead Cal Lu to a potential first SCIAC title in a decade and who knows what in the playoffs. To me he was nothing but a hired mercenary at WW.

dannychamp,
Before you ever come on the D3 board be sure you wear your shades my man.  The glare from this group of posters will blind you.  You don't think you are the only person on here that wears a championship ring.  There are pleanty of guys that post on here that have been there and done that.  some that have more than one.  For sure many that have been on the field, made the long bus rides etc etc etc.  Man up--Danny--you made the choice ,  show some respect instead of your cheap-a$$ comments.

To funny but I think that was Oxy fans after another early exit in the playoffs or another RFB beat down. #1 is still #1.
For all the SCIAC poster children for hate mogering and snobbery the Stealths are taking a little vacation to tour some of our great nations baseball parks for thier home openers. Where we can't wait to hear the coaches give thier "well we have no chance to win so lets just make some money " speechs. Bye Bye for a couple of weeks.

Have a great trip!  According to your argument there should be plenty of available seats in places with great ballparks like San Francisco, Chicago (the North Side, that is), San Diego, Houston, and Cleveland.  After all, not a single one of those teams has won a World Series in more than forty years.  Those fans must be staying home in droves. :D

It is evident after reading this that you have not been to Chicago, let along followed baseball in the last 30 years.  The Cubs get hammered on two points.  One being that they have not won anything in 100 years, and secondly that they fill the ball park to capacity day in and day out with people who do nothing but socialize.  Our friends to the south (White Sox) will only fill the stands on dollar night.  Dollar dogs, dollar beer, dollar seats.  They claim that they watch the game and that the only people who come are true baseball fans and students of the game, while us yuppie north siders drink beer and play on our Blackberries during a 1:20 game on a Friday afternoon.  If you want a cheap seat at a great ball park head to Seattle, Cincy, Pitt, or Houston.

I'm going to be in Cleveland next week and am planning on attending the game on Thursday the 3rd.

Any suggestions as to where to sit or avoid, etc.  Will I get killed if I wear my Angels' cap?
