GHC

Yes indeed GHC, one of the 'cats finest.

D O.C.

For whatever reason not to schedule LINFIELD, surely you can understand the WILDCAT frustration with the SCIAC...

Fear the Poet

any news on hot shot recruit signings?  The Poets have all but secured Century defensive player of the year and All County linebacker Scott Galvan.(El Dorado High in OC)

Accepted and package rec'd. Just working out the details

After our discussion of LA baseball a couple of weeks ago I thought this article in this morning's LA Times would be of interest to many:

Minor League Los Angeles was a Little Slice of Heaven

My father was in the Navy at the end of WWII and stationed on a ship homeported out of San Dog.  He got to see PCL games in just about every city they played in while attacking CA with the Marines getting ready for the invasion of Japan.  He used to say that the PCL teams were better than most of the second division AL and NL teams.

A google search for her with the safe filters turned off.

Genius Idea!

Let's merge the SCIAC and the NWC.
Northern Division and Southern Division. 6 games against what was your former conf every year to keep rivalries and such intact and 2 games against teams from the other division... and one game out of conference.
AND
One week at the end where everyone matches up against their ranked counterpart in the opposite Division creating a de-facto championship game. 1v1, 2v2 so on and so forth.
Ok, the last idea might be a bit nutty. However, if we combine the two conferences, then Linfield will never ever have to complain about Redlands ducking them and I can eventually see someone besides f-ing Lewis & Clark and UPS.

Or, let's just sign a contract to play the NWC as 2 of our 3 out of conf games per year, but have a rotating schedule.
As always, this makes the most sense with regards to cost of travel, etc.

As much as I enjoy the banter between UoR and L about games played v. not played, I'd much rather watch these two slug it out hard on the field.

Now as for CMC, I wonder why Menlo has not appeared on the schedule as there is a HUGE alum base in SF, and I know at least several dozen would turn out to watch a game v Menlo.... logic?

Just to play devil's advocate...  ;)

Bad idea.

The NWC gets its AQ in football next fall.  That guarantees one west coast series pitting the conference winners...  :-\

I think that the NWC got the east coast bias in that the Empire 8 got two at-large ibds and the NWC did not even get the last Pool C bid as a Pool B team.

Maybe Albertson will add football someday and petition to join the NWC...

Any news about Pacific adding football, yet?   ???

Ralph Turner

Bob mentions Chapman which may work to someone's advantage.  If Chapman ever earned a football Pool B bid, then there would be one team to throw into the playoff mix.

Looks like we're back to where we started. Let the complaining from Linfield continue.

OxyBob

Yeah, since Maynard and the Dawgs lost their balls all we have are the memories of Linfield victory after victory over Redlands.

There's only one logical addition to the SCIAC for football -- Chapman. The Panthers already play a full SCIAC schedule every year.

A rotating nonconference schedule between the SCIAC and NWC makes sense, but the various head coaching philosophies would put the kibosh on that idea right quick.

Looks like we're back to where we started. Let the complaining from Linfield continue.

Various headcoaching philosophies... or rather scheduling philosophies?? Bob (and I) is (are) right, a rotating nonconf schedule is the most logical idea... NO idea why this hasn't been done yet. It makes too much sense.

I give up.

snoop dawg

I think we all would like to see the SCIAC and NWC play a rotating schedule.

Playing devils advocate:

1.    Can SCIAC schools afford two long distance non conference travel games?

2.   It seems the NCAA over the years has pitted the SCIAC vs the NWC in the first round of the playoffs.  So if you think your team will win the SCIAC would you want to play Linfield twice in one year?  I can see some logical arguments why you would not want to do that.

Personally, I would love to see the best of the SCIAC play the best of the NWC every year, at least once.
