Andy Collins is going to love the City of Stockton, CA.
If things get too dull, he can always head over to Lodi. ;)

As a former Lodi Flame ... I would look elsewhere.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

I predict a Collins blowup. They have no idea what is about to hit them.

QuoteSHOCK 52, LIGHTNING 42
Rays of hope in defeat

The Stockton Lightning didn't get the desired result but gave its fans something to look forward to by challenging the undefeated Spokane Shock in a 52-42 loss Saturday night at Veterans Arena in Spokane, Wash.

Stockton trailed 17-0 after the first quarter, but the Lightning, playing under new coach Chad Carlson, battled the Shock the rest of the way and actually held the lead twice in the second half. Stockton also had a chance to win the game, trailing 45-42 before being stuffed at the Spokane goal line with 3:42 to go.

The Shock scored one more touchdown to escape with the victory, but it was much closer than the 70-12 drubbing it gave the Lightning last month for the worst loss in franchise history.

Despite the final score, Carlson was encouraged by his team's effort.

"Once we got our motor running, the game went back and forth,'' said Carlson, who replaced Doug Murray less than a week ago. "Our guys kept their composure. When we left the locker room (Saturday), our guys thought they were going to run. We won some battles. ... They gave me four quarters. They basically started the season over, and we're going forward.''

Quarterback Andy Collins, also debuting with Stockton, sparked the Lightning offense, completing 21 of 28 passes for 271 yards and connecting on four touchdown passes. The longest was a 23-yard pass to B'Jay Jones with 28 seconds to go in the second quarter that cut Spokane's lead to 31-14.

"We wanted it bad, and we felt good the last three quarters,'' Collins said. "We had three days to put in a new offense, and that's a compliment to the team. We're proud of what we accomplished tonight.''

Collins helped the Lightning go ahead with seven seconds left in the third quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run that made it 35-31 and also gave Stockton a 42-38 lead by connecting with Justin Taplin on an 11-yard pass. Taplin had seven receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns, his longest catch an 18-yarder from Collins in the third quarter.

Spokane scored the game's final two touchdowns on Kelvin Dickens' 45-yard catch from Nick Davila and on Davila's 1-yard run with five seconds left in regulation.

Awesome! Just as I predicted. Hopefully he makes a name for himself in AF2 and then gets another chance with the AFL.

RFB, I'm going to see Boise at Stockton June 21. Linfield Alums Casey Allen and Brandon Hazenberg (coaching) against Oxy's Andy Collins. You could head north and check out your old stomping grounds. ;D

I wish I could make it. I'm playing in a golf tourney that weekend and can't miss it as we are the defending champs. I was just up there for five days a few weeks ago visiting family, good times. I really miss the area.

WIAC board post May 31

QuoteWell there is one Warhawk transfer that I am interested in seeing play....Joe Munn. Joe had a solid season on the baseball team and was on the all-World Series team. His father indicated that baseball was his second sport, football being primary. He says he will likely be receiver or defensive back. Seems like the need is greater for the Hawks at DB and Joe has good size. Joe is a high school buddy of Danny Jones and came to UWW because of Danny.

and the beat goes on...

Bob,

For this final "Showcase showdown" question, I'd have to say and bet $1,201 that Mr. Munn went to C.I.T.

Any spring football recap's out of other SCIAC school's (besides C.M.S)???

Trevor needs to pack on a good 20-30 lbs... 175 is a little light.
Good to see announcements on recruits.
Summer is officially here.. hope everyone is working hard right now.

RFB,

Are the Redlands games webcast?  I have had some people asking this to follow the Bulldogs this fall from Iowa here.  Relatives in Nebraska and Minnesota have even asked about the possiblilty of a webcast.

It's possible some will be on SobobaView with reality 'commercials.'

80 recruits reminds me, what is the roster size cap, or is there?
I seem to have forgotten whether or not there is a cap in DIII. Figure the board must know something about this. Also begs the question, at what point would the SCIAC consider have JV or would JV be possible in SoCal? Most likely not... works back East due to the plethora of prep schools with a PG year. But, considering the JCs have their own league, a JV system might not be the best idea out here.
