Six out of the nine WIAC institutions finished 27th or better in the Directors' Cup this season and 2 in the top ten. UWW 6th.  It is what it is.

Admissions Selectivity Rating

This rating measures how competitive admissions are at the school. This rating is determined by several institutionally-reported factors, including: the class rank, average standardized test scores, and average high school GPA of entering freshmen; the percentage of students who hail from out-of-state; and the percentage of applicants accepted. By incorporating all these factors, our Admissions Selectivity Rating adjusts for "self-selecting" applicant pools. University of Chicago, for example, has a very high rating, even though it admits a surprisingly large proportion of its applicants. Chicago's applicant pool is self-selecting; that is, nearly all the school's applicants are exceptional students. This rating is given on a scale of 60-99. Please note that if a school has an Admissions Selectivity Rating of 60*, it means that the school did not report to us enough of the statistics that go into the rating in order for us to accurately measure its admissions selectivity.

Word on the street is that golf turnout was good, but not record . . . the post golf auction, however may have been the best ever . . . at least, that's what I'm told . . . I was working too.

Coyotes top Lightning

QB Clay Groefsema threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns on a 24-of-40 night, helping the Central Valley Coyotes defeat the Stockton Lightning 51-29 in a wire-to-wire effort before a crowd of 4,540 at Stockton Arena on Saturday in Week 12 of arenafootball2 play.

The Lightning (2-9), who were flanked by an appearance from "Jet" of the television show "American Gladiators," were led offensively by WR Justin Taplin's 6 catches, 85 yards and 3 touchdown receptions while QB Andy Collins threw for 3 scores and 183 yards despite being limited to a 14-for-32 effort.

Alex Walls converted a season-long 36-yard field goal attempt to put the Lighting up 3-0 on the first series of the game.

The Coyotes struck back quickly with a touchdown of their own, putting them in the lead at 7-3 when Tonae Martin rushed for a four-yard score and followed with another four-yard TD rush with 1:52 left, advancing Central Valley's cushion to 13-3.

Following a Nichiren Flowers TD reception the Lightning notched their first touchdown of the contest when Taplin hauled in a leaping four-yard grab at the left corner, slicing the deficit to 19-10. The Stockton Lightning foundation, who donated $25 to the Red Cross local disaster relief fund for local fire victims, raised money on the strength of four Lightning touchdowns in the game.

Central Valley pushed the margin to 37-10 with 10:37 left in the third quarter following two touchdown passes by Groefsema to WR Tonae Martin and Wes Borba, parlayed with an 18-yard field goal by Mikael Bjork.

Collins, using his feet to make things happen, scampered for a 9-yard touchdown rush to kick-start a furious 19-0 Stockton rally with 8:25 left in the third stanza. Taplin then hauled in two consecutive touchdown snares, including a 29-yard bomb with 4:20 left in the third quarter which eventually closed the gap to 37-29.

A 14-0 run by the Coyotes silenced the Lightning rally when Martin and Flowers each caught a touchdown pass by Groefsema, with Flowers connecting for the longest Central Valley score, a 25-yarder, with 6:07 left.

Sorry to say but this is the frist time I have ever seen you so off the mark. DJ had every intention to be at CLU  the full 4 until all of the off season turmoil in his junior year. We have been over this more times than preperatioin H on a hemaroid.  Still have the greatest respect for your contributions. Nice try to stir it up a bit. Reminds me of me a bit

From the Yakima Herald, an article about this Saturday's 14th annual Earl Barden All-Star Football Classic:

The East lineup in Saturday's game includes six players with ties to the Yakima and Ellensburg areas ... Also in the lineup is KURT RUSSELL, East Valley's all-but-unstoppable wide receiver who plans to play college football at Cal Lutheran -- next year, anyway, since there may yet be bigger and better destinations down the line.

Sounds like another Danny Jones in the making for CLU.

Collins, a converted linebacker who never took a snap at quarterback in Arena Football before coming to Stockton, will get his third start for the Lightning when it plays host to the Boise Burn at 7 p.m. today at Stockton Arena.

But what got Collins to this level was winning a heck of a lot of football games as a quarterback at Occidental University ( ) before showing his stuff against the all-star team from Mexico.
