you know its bad for the Dog fans when they are clinging to the Angels 2-2 "slump"
I didn't call it a slump, I was merely stating that going to a Dodger game right now might be a tab bit more exciting as they are on somewhat of a streak, and you don't have to put up with the jumbo tron telling you to get out your monkey.

Quote from: Fear the Poet on August 18, 2008, 12:17:40 PMAs far as the stadium..got to make money to pay the players.
You're right.  Unfortunately, at the rate Art Moreno is going it won't be too long until the Angels will more closely resemble NASCAR drivers.

Quote from: Fear the Poet on August 18, 2008, 12:17:40 PMYour just jealous becuase we don't need armed guards to go to Angel Stadium.
Jealous of that PG, wheel chair ramp you call a stadium... never.

Quote from: Fear the Poet on August 18, 2008, 12:17:40 PMI think we could all agree that sticking it to the east coast would be nice. :)
Agreed (Finally).  Is it illegal to ban pink Red Sox hats in the Greater Los Angeles Area (and Orange County)?

Actually, there are very good reasons to lower the drinking age:

If a person is old enough to serve his/her country and be put in harm's way . . . s/he is old enough to drink.

If a person is old enough to vote, s/he is old enough to drink.

Most persons who are not yet 21, but are inclined to drink, will do so regardless of the law.  With the age at 21, and with the laws being what they are . . . college students gather off campus to drink, and binge drink.

If the age were lowered, then legal drinking could take place on campus, no need to drive . . . not need to binge drink in order to get back to the "dry" party on campus, or to the party where they one cannot drink because of age.

My understanding (and I can't quote the stats or source) . . . is that binge drinking by minors is up, rather than down as measured when the drinking age went up from 18, driven by the feds and highway funds years ago.

Much better that kids who are going to drink be able to do so safely . . . on campus . . . walking or stumbling to and from their dorm rooms . . . rather than getting behind a wheel do drive to the off campus source.

Taking away the "forbidden" image by lowering the age will, in my view, be another benefit.

I wonder what the history behind NY state moving 18 to 21 was ? I seem to remember a fuzzy time in Times Square while I was on leave that 18 was the limit.  Good link regarding this subject matter. http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/LegalDrinkingAge.html

All of the states increased the drinking age to 21 when the federal government decided to withhold a portion of federal highway monies from any state that had a drinking age under 21.

Ah yes now I remember, the MADD factor. Thanks for the refresh. It's been awhile.
