It's the Logo that you should be "Fearing" MCat. As mentioned before on here, That dude looks pretty creepy.

By the way, FTP, I'll be heading up north the weekend that your Purple People play the Oaks to watch my Dodgers Clinch the N.L. West against the Giants. If so, be on the look out for a young buck wearing a white Dodger jersey and Oxy baseball cap roaming the Sidelines. (Btw, Cawdad, will you be there taking pictures)
Hope to catch the game before heading to AT&T park for tailgating.

outstanding!  If you have time, look for the two morons wearing #63 Poet Jerseys in the parking lot. Tailgating will be taking place. :)

As I'm just a good 30 minutes away, I'll most likely be down for the Menlo game. Should be able to sneak away from the cube for a few hours that afternoon. Looking forward to it. I'll be sure to throw on some Stag gear just so it doesn't appear I have traded my loyalties. :)

As far as SF recommendations - there is Momo's (or is Moma's) right across from ATT Park. There is also Hi Dive just up the Embarcadero. Since that's right around the corner from me, I frequent that a bit. If you are looking for a good burger before the game or the next day, Taylor's in the Ferry Building is awesome. Since ATT Park / SoMA is my 'hood, I should know the bars better than I do. There is also 21st Amendment, which is a couple blocks from the park. Much better than Momo's for just beer. I might not be a Giants fan, but you gotta do the garlic fries.

Thanks for the insight ECS and FTP. I'll keep you updated FTP if I do make the game. That way, we can start going over what will happen the day My Tigers reclaim the Shoes and what your players must do at mid-field to present back the shoes. By the way, did i mention that the players parents from Whitter have to grill burgers for all oxy alum after the game.  :P

Update. MoMo's is a zoo before game time. Getting a refreshment is a tad like slam dancing at a Metallica concert. Gordon Birsch brewery is about a mile up the road towards the Bay Bridge on your left. The original garlic fries are made there. Much better than at the ball park and the beer, out of this world. Right out of the kegs.  Try the sampler. If your looking for some pre game Stanford Jr vs. Oxy game fun there is a Chevy's right across the street that makes a mean melon margarita. Have fun and be safe.

There's only one way to find out if a man is honest...ask him. If he says 'yes,' you know he is a crook.

Hey, I saw a guy wearing a "Fear the Poet" T-Shirt a couple of weekends ago?  What's the story behind the phrase?  They sure don't seem to be a team to fear much...

It's the SCIAC equivalent of "Fear the Missionary."

Huh?  Now, I'm totally lost.   ??? ??? ??? ???

That's what I get for trying to read Bob's mind... :D

Don't a few of the NWC (besides Whitworth) schools have missionary roots?

Linfield was originally a Baptist school...I think PLU is somehow affiliated with the Lutheran Church.... ;), I'm assuming Lewis and Clark is Rastafarian, uhm.....UPS---what can brown do for you?.....Menlo and Willamette....I dunno......

Willamette's roots go to the early 1800's and Methodist missionaries starting a school to convert the native americans.  Menlo was founded in the 20th Century as a two year private school, expanding to 4 years.  No religious roots . . . unless you worship business management.

I'm clearly in work avoidance mode.

I always forget about Gordon Birsch. There is a mexican place about 2 blocks away from ATT, on townsend I think. Good food, not sure about the drinks. There are a few REAL dives as well as you head up 3rd and 4th towards the 80 and Moscone.

Look forward to the SCIAC company at Menlo.
