FTP & DAW-

Provided Saturday's soccer action does not do us in, the Scandihoovian family will head down to Whittier for Saturday night's game.  Probably won't make it down in time for tailgating, but I will try to stop by and say hi, assuming the #63 jerseys will be in force as always? :)  I'd tell you to look for the Scandinavian looking guy from CLU, but that doesn't narrow the field much.

I am looking forward to seeing my first SCIAC action of the season, and checking out the facility upgrades as well!

DAW

We will definately be sporting the #63 Jerseys!!  If you don't see us right away just listen for the yelling... I've been told a time or two that I can be really loud!! ;D

Did I really read that Principia (opponent to a few in the SCIAC) only had 75 yards in total offense against Greenville?  I hope to god nobody from the SCIAC schedules them in the future.

Anyone have predictions for the weekend?

This year d3 has 239 football teams.  Kickoff ranked Principia 239th.

Beat those Cubbies 7 to 2
Sorry Guys  I just had to. Gotta Love it when baseball and football are on at the same time in October.

Wow, 239 out of 239!  Thats pretty bad :o

"pretty bad", eh?  How low would they have to go before it becomes "they suck"! ;D

Principia must not be playing up to their "potential" since they had 2 pre-season all-american first teamers (which tied them with among others Mount Union for most selectees) selected from an outfit called Consensus Draft Services, (no kidding!!::)

Relations with the neighbors are always tricky.  Seems like over the last 10-15 years there has been a big shift in how much colleges are required to make their neighbors happy before they move forward with new building projects and major renovations.  I find this a little humorous, if for no other reason than the fact that the neighbors all knew there was a college there when they bought/built their houses.  In Chapman's case, the response to the red seats might have been because they were originally shown a picture of the stadium that looked like this:

Regardless of discrepancies between the picture and the reality, I think Bob's suggested approach is not without its merits ;)  I am glad for Chapman that they're finishing up the project.  I think the field on top of the parking structure approach is an interesting application of field turf technology, and I'll be interested to see where else it might be adopted around the conference and the country.

From Steve Harvey's always amusing "Bottom 10" column in today's Los Angeles Times:

QuoteRumors continued that the NCAA had devised a bail-out program for the rapidly weakening Pacific 10 Conference that would have the league's various flowerhouses taken over by the more solid Mountain West Conference. Or perhaps by the Ivy League.

The calamity suffered by USC against Oregon State proved the wisdom of UCLA's marketing slogan: "The football monopoly in L.A. is officially over." Yes, the new power in town is indisputably Occidental (2-0), which just notched a 38-28 win over the men of Menlo College.

USC hasn't played Oxy since 1934 and it's easy to see why. The Trojans obviously haven't gotten over some of the beatings they suffered against the Tigers, including shutouts by Oxy in 1895, 1903, and 1905.

Or in other words, The last time SaberTooth Tiger roamed Patterson field in 1903, Gray Fox was Still in high school, Scandii was just heading to middle school, and Bob was creating the internet. HaHa

Eat 'em up, Tigers!

D O.C.

If Chapman's colors were ORANGE and black there would have not been a peep.

Redlands  37   Final
Laverne    7

Sloppy game in the rain. Redlands defense was stellar once again. Hopefully the injuries are minor. Steve Smith played ok for his first game in place of Selway. Redlands needs to ramp it up this week in practice and get ready for a showdown with Oxy next week at the Runner.
