Community invited to 'Take a Kid to the Game' Saturday

The University of Redlands invites the community to attend the Bulldogs' home football game at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, against Occidental College. Kids 18 and under and adults who bring a child to the game get in free.

Saturday is NCAA Football's 11th annual "Take a Kid to the Game" event. Children can go on the field during halftime for activities and will receive a prize.

Property was stolen from a dorm in the 3200 block of Mountclef Boulevard near the Cal Lutheran University campus between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24. In another incident at CLU, a vehicle window was broken and the paint and body were damaged on the first block of Faculty Street. In a third incident, felony vandalism occurred on Sept. 24 or 25 at Thompson Hall, a student residence.

Further investigation revealed that the CLU basketball team had an airtight alibi.

Sudan man forced to 'marry' goat

A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal.

The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders.

They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi.

"We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.

Mr Alifi, of Hai Malakal in Upper Nile State, told the Juba Post newspaper that he heard a loud noise around midnight on 13 February and immediately rushed outside to find Mr Tombe with his goat.

"When I asked him: 'What are you doing there?', he fell off the back of the goat, so I captured and tied him up."

Mr Alifi then called elders to decide how to deal with the case.

"They said I should not take him to the police, but rather let him pay a dowry for my goat because he used it as his wife," Mr Alifi told the newspaper.

Update: Mr. Tombe and the goat have divorced. She got the kids.

The legendary Coach Roland Ortmayer passed away today. He was 91. Coached the Leos from 1948 - 1991. While I never played for him, I have a tremendous amount of respect for the man and everything he did for LaVerne
