Interesting scenario:

Oxy goes 9-0 Pool A
Redlands wins out 8-1 Pool B
Linfield beats Willamette to finish 8-1 Pool A
Willamette wins out to finish 9-1 Pool B

Who would have a better chance of gettng two teams in?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't pool B only for non-autobid conferences?
Go Cats!

Pat Coleman

Yep, he actually means Pool C there.

Good question. Not sure who would have the better SOS when it's all said and done.

Well, if it comes down to Maynard's rating once again... [/joking]

In your scenario Redlands and Willamette would be very close. Willamette's hypothetical 9-1 would really be viewed as 8-1 (NAIA Southern Oregon shouldn't 'count'). Several factors would come into play in figuring it out. How does the Pool C field look nation-wide (they might both get in)? How close did Willamette play Linfield? Strength of schedule would be huge. Right now, I'd give the nod to Willamette's non-conference slate. But there's a lot of football to go.

ESPN article about the new movie The Express.  The actor playing the role of Ernie Davis, Rob Brown, is an Amherst football alum.

Quote4. YOU GOTTA HAVE SOME GAME.
"If an actor can play, it makes the director's job easier because he doesn't have to rely on stunt doubles for everything. I played in high school and for Amherst. Besides, if you can't play, you're gonna hear all sorts of trash on the set. We used some guys from major D1 programs."
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

In four games this season Linfield is 1-for-4 on FG tries over 40 yards. Big deal. Typical Linfield hubris.

Two of those misses were actually over 50 yards and the other never had a chance due to the snap being so high that by the time it was finally placed on the ground Birkhofer was already next to the holder waiting for the ball, with no body momentum behind the kick.

That said, it is still three out of four misses, albeit 50+ yarders don't seem to yield a very high make %. Can't disagree that the Linfield hype gets excessive at times, but I will say if you were on the boards back in '04 you will remember that some of us 'Cat faithful were less than impressed with the kicker, and were more than willing to let everyone know about it.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

No one in the SCIAC gives a sh!t about Linfield's kicking game in 2008, 2004, or ever.

Bob, do you need some Motrin?  You sound kind of crampy, bloated, and cranky....  :P

Then why reference the post in the first place? Seems you could have easily ignored it, which is what one would have expected from someone who truly "didn't give a sh!t." You say "no one" in the SCIAC cared, yet you were the one who had to give an opinion on it.

OxyBob,

Given your anger issues, it should be pretty clear to everyone who it is that really needs the meds in a bad way.

This should be interesting, who has the popcorn?

Foss

OxyBob, you decided not to go with the "My dad can beat up your dad" post that you deleted? Too bad, given how original it was.

That kicker was 2-for-3 on FGs over 40 yards.

Some folks that did gripe during that season were mainly gripping about kick offs landing out of bounds (happen twice in the stagg bowl) and some PAT issues from time to time....but when you kick as much as he did during that year I could see how sometimes he would shank it.
