Oooo, oooo I read Meds somewhere in these post. Please send some to B.E.64 after a long day of working with 175 9th-12th graders. I sure need some. Just not the ones for bloating and cramps though.  :P

Can anyone tell me why Oxy was not on top 25 polls at start of season?  Don't they have a boat load of returning players?---

Because they lost to the Poets and missed the playoffs and Redlands also had a boatload.

Like GF said, dropping two games last year to two teams that didn't make the playoffs doesn't bode well for your pre-season ranking.  And it seems for the most part voters will vote for the SCIAC team that won the conference the previous year until they are given a reason not to.

In this case, the Top 25 Poll shows Redlands with 215 votes in Week 5 compared to Oxy's 0.  Week 6 shows Oxy jumping into the Top 25 with 45 votes and Redlands drops out, going to 22 votes -- I would think this displays their shaken confidence in a conference that usually only gets one team into the playoffs.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Didn't Redlands tie  Cal Lu for the Sciac title and only get into playoffs due to the head to head last season?  Why isn't Cal Lu rated?  Their pass defense this season is supposed to be brutal.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Cal Lu "isn't rated" because (a) they didn't get any votes from the people who get to vote on these things, (b) because as perceived at this point, Cal Lu is seen as a strong #3 in the SCIAC, which won't normally translate to a top 25 in D3.

The opening loss to now #19 Willamette probably didn't help either.

Thanks for the info.   I am new to the So Cal area and D3 football here - I will not ask any more "stupid" questions.

In addition to that, Occidental plays a fairly soft non-conference schedule, so the Tigers had no opportunity to get anywhere in the poll either.

Ask away.  We always need new blood.  What D3 football have you followed in the past?

Linfield is not an acceptable answer.

Yes....I am a Redlands "newbie", but not necessarily a Redlands fan.    My boys were recruited by Willemete, Whitworth,  Puget Sound, and  Linfield (yes even Linfield) out of high school -  I am from that area - but Redlands is home now, so I figure I may as well follow the SCIAC teams ---Bama is my football team of choice-- but D3 football is just so much fun to watch.

I enjoy reading all the postings;  I am beginning to see certain tendencies from some of you!  I will continue to watch and learn!

I also hope your Poets can give Redlands a game this week.  From what I've seen, I think the Redlands coaches and team were getting a bit "full of themselves" after earning their highest ranking in school history.
Was glad to see a great Oxy team play them well.
I will always be rooting for the underdog!

I have a feeling that Whittier is going to run into a focused and angry Redlands team this Saturday. I'm planning on being there at the game so I would love to meet Ricky & Lucy. Maybe if I'm lucky my little shorty will root against Redlands for the third consecutive game.

Welcome Gazolly...  !!

RFB, just look for the two wearing the #63 Jerseys... Hopefully we'll get to meet.  If you don't see us before the game look in the stands midway up around the 50 yrd line... that's where we normally like to plant ourselves!! and if you still can't see us than just listen for the yelling...  I can be a bit loud at times!!  I hope the little one continues to root against Redlands too!!
