Fearless predictions...

Pomona @ La Verne -- Sagehens lambaste Leopards

OxyBob

Thank goodness for the win. Me and some of the boys had a great time at the Ort tailgating and watching the Leos get the W... The Leopards have a decent sized squad, but they definitely don't look as strong as teams of the past few years. QB Andre is good, but he's got practically got no time to throw. Pomona's Caron was the real deal, but he's definitely doesn't have much help out there either...
Hail to the Orange, Hail to the Green,

Thank goodness for the win.

With a home game this week with Oxy and 3 straight road games left on the schedule, that might be the only win ULV gets.

Wow, only one night time SCIAC match up this weekend. By the way, I'll go ahead a make this prediction here today, the stags walk away with the W against the Pups this weekend. I know, I know ( i picked the poets last weekend and look how that one came out),but for some odd reason, I have a feeling that the stags surpise the pups (see the results of the 01 season).

Snowlep, will you be at the game on Sat?

A Claremont win at Redlands at UR's Homecoming Game? Uh, no, that is not going to happen. If the Stags are lucky they won't get bageled.

Hey Anything can happen on any given Saturday. Look at last weeks Leo victory against the Hens. Plus, im sure the Tamale Tailgate that the players and parents have right before the game, may in fact affect the Pups playing.

Btw, Oxy over the Leo's in the Battle of the Cats. ;D

Was La Verne beating that Sagehen squad that big of a surprise? I mean it is Pomona....I still cant believe that we got crushed by CMS. Oh, and I was being a little sarcastic in my 1-8 comment FTP.

"Anything can happen on any given Saturday." Good point. Great analysis. If Claremont can establish their running game, pound it on the ground, and take care of the football, they have a chance. The Stags should just go out there and execute and make plays on both sides of the ball. They need to play Claremont football and stick to their game plan. Of course, if CMS can't stop the big play, then they should throw their game plan out the window. When Claremont is marching down the field and they're knocking on the door, they've got to punch it in and take it to the big house, or else they'll have to settle for three. I think the Stags will also have to open up the passing lanes and air it out more. CMS QB Ryan Larsen likes to call his own number. He has great pocket presence and is a real gunslinger. If the Stags' offensive line can give Larsen some time to throw, he'll have all day back there, maybe an eternity or even all the time in the world, to check off his receivers and direct traffic. If Redlands flushes Larsen from the pocket you wonder how much punishment he can absorb. If Redlands can get to Larsen they will really clean his clock and ring his bell and put the lumber on him and he'll be slow getting up. Hopefully he won't telegraph his passes and throw it up for grabs into double-coverage. Unfortunately for CMS, Redlands' defensive line is quick off the ball and will assert itself. UR is tough in the red zone, and the Bulldogs usually win the game in the trenches. It's a game of field position, and eventually you'll see the frustration starting to set in on CMS. However, it should be a battle, and these guys are going to go at it mano a mano.

I think you hit it right on the head, Bob. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. They wear their hearts on their sleeves and refuse to lose.

They need to hit first and hit hard.

A few good scampers by the running backs will also contribute.

"They need to play Claremont football"   Are you sure?  Maybe they should play Oxy or UR football, they would have a better chance of winning the game. ;)
