Perhaps OB can clarify this for me....if Occidental (173) manages to beat California Lutheran (117) then CalLu's Strength of Schedule goes up?

At this point, all that matters is saturdays game. As mentioned before at the beginning of the week, we will have a classic showdown between these two hot and top teams of the SCIAC. I guess the only thing we can add that hasn't been said on here before is, will it be rainning or will it be sunny in So. Cal this weekend???  (Mudd Bowl II scandii?)

The weather report for Sat. in T.O. was a chance of rain.  It sure looked like it was going to pour this afternoon.  Hope it holds off.

Is it a grass field?

yes . . . at least it was in 1977 . . . and I think in was in 2006, but didn't give it much thought.

I think Cal Lu got a new pool and baseball facility . . . but no field turf yet.

Tooth-  Same old Mt. Clef Stadium.  It is still the lumpy grass it has always been.  The new facility across the street is very nice, but nothing for football yet.  I am guessing the cost of a new football "stadium" would be pretty high.  The current one is in a great place on campus, but the school continues to grow and they are quickly running out of room.  Check out the new digs here...   http://www.clusports.com/pages/facilities.php

Doesn't Cal Lu have the "Dallas Cowboy Grass".  I remember hearing that the field was seeded with special Texas grass when the Cowboys used to hold training camp there years ago.
Nice of the Cowboys to leave their grass ! :)

Jack's right on both counts, space in the area of campus south of Olsen road is at a premium, and a new stadium, while definitely in the plans, will be pricey.  The new stadium will need to house the entire football operation (offices, locker rooms, equipment storage, and training rooms), so it's going to be a much more involved structure than just stands and lights.  Last I heard, the stadium was supposed to be located West of Glibert Arena.  So if you look at the picture from Jack's link it's the green/brown field above the Arena in the picture.  FWIW, since the picture was taken they've started construction on a second pool (joint venture with the City, located between the pool and the baseball stadium) and new tennis courts (below the baseball stadium).  So the football stadium and all weather track are the last remaining big pieces of the puzzle.

GG-
The stadium field was one of three the Cowboys used, and they may have been allowed to specify what kind of grass was planted.  The other two fields were taken out to make way for the pool and the aquatics center, but the stadium grass is more or less original.  It's been overseeded and rejuvenated, but never resodded (to my knowledge).

OB-
31-17? We'll see...I think it will be closer than two scores. Partly to mostly cloudy means that, regardless of whether or not you like the outcome, you'll be able to enjoy the view from the northern sideline without the sun in your eyes.

Driving by to wish the best of health to all the teams in the SCIAC this weekend. Particularly interested to watch the CLU-OXY game on the internet. Love to see CLU step up and make the league title up for grabs. Stay well all.

I remember watching some games at Mt Clef a few years back - very cozy -  felt as if we were in the middle of Mayberry! :)

When we were there, we wished we had brought lawn chairs; at that time there weren't that many bleacher seats on the visitor's side...maybe that's changed since 2005 (?).   It was a great atmosphere and we loved watching the footballs go on the roof of the athletic office on the East side of the field after PATs were kicked. ... Best of luck to both teams, looks to be a great contest.
