Hey FTP and DAW,

Since LR is currently riding with an injury, will you two still be able to attend this years game between The Tigers and Poets later on this month? I hope you guys still will be rooting for your team and finishing the season with them. Plus, I think FTP still owes me a burger and beer when you guys show up at the rock (lol. just kidding, It would be awesome to meet you Poets Faithful)

you bet we'll be there. Thanks and looking forward to seeing you

To FTP and LUCY...I met you one pm before a Whittier home game as I was strolling the parking lot You were most welcoming to a visitor. I have read D3 for the past few years but never registered and posted until now..I feel so bad for your son. I hope his rehap goes well and that he follows the doc's and trainer's orders. If so he shoild be fine.Keep your spirits up.

And by the way, your win-loss record may not show it, but I respect your Poets for never giving up. It does take a few years to develop a consistant program...Keep supporting LR and the rest of the team, for the best is yet to come.

thanks for the thoughts.....we are Poet fans for life!

was it at the Chapman game when we met?

Sorry to hear about LR injury. The good thing about being young is you heal very quickly.

Oh we'll definately be there sporting the #63 jersey loud and proud.  Even though LR wont be playing we'll all be there supporting our team!  Looking forward to meeting you.
Thanks again everyone for all your good thoughts.  We should hear something more this morning after LR has his xrays.

Oh my word!
I am so sorry. As you see we were wondering. That feeling from the stands must be second only to the pain on the ground.

thanks my firend..LR will be fine, he is a tough kid. I was more worried about Lucy. As LR was rolling in pain, I quote Lucy, "can I go down there and see if he is ok?"  :)

Ok to set the record straight I asked if I could go down there to see if he was ok only when he was off the field and sitting on the trainers table!! ;D
I cant help it.. I'm a mom and you can all tell me to cut the cord already but he'll alway be my baby and I'll always worry so when one of my kids gets hurt my first instinct is to go see if they are ok :D

Thank you everyone for your good wishes and thoughts for LR and the family.

Daw, I am sorry about your son - there is nothing worse than watching your child in pain from the stands (no matter how old they are!) ... I've been stopped from hopping a fence or two after my boys were down on the field!  The "momma bear" instinct always kicks in to protect our "cubs" from harm.  Hope your son is back on his feet again soon.
Thanks Gazolly.  I knew that you'd be able to relate!!  It's tough seeing your child hurting and not being able to do anything.  And you're right, it doesn't matter how old they get :D  I knew that I couldn't go down on the field (for fear of embarassing the boy!) but that didn't stop me from asking one of the student coaches from Last year to go check on him!!  ;D  At the point that he was sitting on the trainers table I couldn't take it any more and had to know what was going on or at least that he was ok!!  Just for your information FTP was as worried as I was but he just doesn't show it the way I do but I could tell!! (of course he'd say differently ;))

Dahlby, I do remember you.  You were walking through the parking area where we were tailgating.  I recall you telling us that you read the boards but haven't posted.   Thanks for the kind words.  LR will be just fine.  Kid  is tough.  (Maybe to tough for my heart to handle!!)

You're right, dads worry just as much as we do, but I'd like to think they are keeping it inside so us moms don't totally lose it in the stands!  Can you imagine what our kids would think of us if both parents were trying to make it onto the field after an injury? :)

Hope LR's injury isn't too bad (RFB is right about the young healing quicker)

I will keep you all in my prayers so track season isn't a total loss for him.

Is there really a "Yes on 8" ad at the top of a d3football discussion board?  I thought we were to remain non-political?

homo-phobes are everywhere.  we should spend more time looking in the mirror and cleaning our own closets and less time trying to dictate what others do.

interesting commentary from the general board re: SCIAC play-off prospects:

First run at the brackets...

West Region

1)  North Central CCIW Pool A  Moved into the West
2)  Oxy  SCIAC Pool A
3)  WIAC Pool A
4)  NWC Pool A
5)  WIAC Pool C
6)  Redlands SCIAC Pool C
7)  MIAC Pool A
8 )  Iowa IAC Pool A

Constructive criticisms and comments are appreciated.   ;)

I'm confused about the West...

Willamette topped the first regional rankings. Yet you have NCC coming in and two other teams jumping Willamette in terms of seeding?

I don't see Willamette any lower than #2 (to NCC) if they win out. They'll host Oxy, unless Redlands gets in. If Redlands is in, look for Oxy to host either the IIAC or MIAC champ with Redlands going to Oregon.

Monmouth is naturally in the West (#3 in the first set of rankings), so your prediction would be a move out to become a #6? Some of us are predicting they'll host a first round game in the "West"...but will have their hands full with someone like Whitewater.

WIAC only gets two in if both Whitewater and Stevens Point win out. That seems likely for UWW. But Stevens Point has tough games and if they falter, Whitewater likely becomes conference's only representative.

Is Redlands a stronger candidate for a Pool C then Trinity, Wash. & Jeff., and others? They would have 'decent' wins versus Cal Lu, Chapman, and Whitworth. But the SCIAC doesn't rate very high overall. A Stevens Point loss would help them, but they are far from a lock for one of only 6 Pool C's.

I don't think dad's worry as much as mom's.  If you change the term from worry to care you are correct.

Not only is there an ad supporting the initiative looking to write discrimination into the California Constitution . . . it is one of the most corrupt and misleading ads that they have run . . . suggesting that Obama supports prop 8 . . . HE DOES NOT . . .

From the LA Times quoting Obama:

Quote"I've stated my opposition to this. I think it's unnecessary," Obama told MTV. "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage. But when you start playing around with constitutions, just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that's not what America's about."

Now that is a clearly political waffle answer . . . but the bottom line is that he opposes this initiative that seeks to TAKE AWAY fundamental rights that have been found to exist in the California State Constitution . . .

QuoteAnnouncer: Just listen to President Kennedy.
President Kennedy: "This door's wide open now. And these two black students will walk right into the halls of the University of Alabama , whether you like it or not."
Announcer: Whether you like it or not? How can President Kennedy ignore the voters of this state and impose desegregation on Alabamans? It's no longer about tolerance; acceptance of desegregation is now mandatory.
Announcer: This means that people who are opposed to desegregation sued over personal beliefs, and that teaching children about desegregation in our schools would be mandatory.
Announcer: Governor George Wallace did not ignore you and your white power signs. He stood in the doorway until the National Guard pushed him aside.
Announcer: We don't have to accept this.

Don't Forget to Vote!

And don't institutionalize discrimination in California, vote no on 8.

I stand corrected Dutchfan ....So sorry...... Dads may not worry as much, but they obviously care as much -  I realize now my remarks may have been too generalized.    (Wouldn't want anyone thinking all dads "worry" about their sons!)   ;)
