Anyone that thinks that Oxy will play anyone/anywhere but Willamette is kidding themselves.  While they may be good enough, Redlands will not make the tournament and Oxy will fly to Salem.  Despite the $1B plus the NCAA gets from the basketball tourney, if they can save 25k with one fewer flight, they will.  If Oxy and WU were #1 and #2 in the country, they would do the same exact thing.

Bingo!

OxyBob

I fear you're right, but hope you're wrong.  I've been suggesting a possible solution: import NCC as #1, then (assuming they both win first round) #2 vs. #3 is a natural matchup in the second round anyway.  The two flights first round (bringing others to WU and Oxy) would happen by the second round anyway (Oxy to WU, then bringing a team to the WU-Oxy winner); at most we're talkin' 2 vs. 3 flights in the first two rounds.

While seeds have gotten seriously 'bent' for both the West Coast and Texas, they've so far never made a #2 travel to a #1 - if they do, we will know positively that money beats ANYTHING.

Can you come up with a scenario where Redlands gets in and comes to UMHB or HSU?  That would make a lot of people happy.

That probably WOULD do a lot for both the Texas and West Coast 'screwings', but, sorry, GF, I'm just trying to clear up the North logjam!  The rest of the regions will have to find their own advocate! ;D

Get yourself to the TV youngster. ;)

I did.
Can't wait until he makes an offical visit back on Campus as mentioned in the Program. That would be awesome.

Maybe he'll do it in 2011 to make it an even 100 years between visits of sitting presidents!

To continue with the jabs to Whitter this week: Oxy knocks the lights out of the Poets in two quarters and puts on a homecoming show that will make Tooth and his 1845 Raisin Bowl teammates wish they can put the leatherhelmets back on.

Final Score Oxy 68 Whitter 32. Sorry Poets, Oxy seniors and Co. are looking forward in teahcing your team one last lesson before they take off to the big dance.

thats cold, man..but I guess not much I can say.  Tough year.  I am sure Oxy won't teach the Poets any lessons that they don't already know. Didn't your mother teach you not to kick a man when he is down?

Speaking of, Best of Luck to Both "The Who" and Pups tomorrow. In it's own respect, this game should be a good one. Both teams are looking to end the season on a really high note and sure will leave it out on the field. In the end, I expect the Who to walk away with the W.

Oops. I thought ULV and CMS had a date this saturday, but was wrong. Best of luck to The Leo seniors and company, however, Chapman does walk and end the season with a big win. My mistake.

"We are proud that an Occidental alumnus will be serving in the country's highest office." --  Occidental President Robert Skotheim, from the Los Angeles Wave

Saturday's schedule:

Cal Lutheran (6-2, 4-1) @ Redlands (7-1, 4-1) 1:00 p.m.
Claremont (3-5, 2-3) @ Pomona (2-6, 1-4) 1:00 p.m.
Whittier (1-7, 0-5) @ Oxy (8-0, 5-0) 1:00 p.m.
La Verne (2-6, 2-4) @ Chapman (4-4) 1:00 p.m.

Fearless predictions:

The game of the week is CLU @ UR. The Kingsmen would love to beat Redlands and ruin any playoff chances for the Bulldogs (even though those playoff chances are in fact nonexistent). Both teams have great defenses, but Redlands has more offense. Pick: Redlands

Claremont and Pomona battle it out for the Peace Pipe. Claremont is going to have its hands full trying to stop pass machine Jake Caron and his passel of receivers. Caron has thrown for 2359 (slightly padded) yards and 14 TDs. Pick: Pomona

Oxy has been waiting a year to rinse the taste of the 67-61 debacle out of their mouths. A perfect 9-0 regular season awaits. Tigers rinse, spit. Pick: Oxy

La Verne has steadily improved under Andy Ankeny. Chapman has had a solid season and with a couple of breaks could have beaten both Whitworth and Oxy. Pick: Chapman
