Every other #1 plays #8.

Every other #2 opens at home.

Can you feel the love? ???
Yeah, another year for the Texas sub-bracket!  (#3 HSU to #2 UMHB)

We know your pain!   :-\

I'm guessing 35k for each team that has to travel, including hotel and meals.  I know they run probably 100 championships, when you count all the sports, genders (hopefully only 2) and divisions.  So, if they can save one plane flight per tourney, that's about 3 million bucks.  That said, this organization pulls in hundreds of millions of those dollars every year.  Couldn't they even pretend to be somewhat equitable?

I knew that this would happen, so I conditioned myself to it but it still doesn't make me happy.

Hopefully the Willamette folks will broadcast as I can't make it up this weekend.

Not that I'm surprised in the least, but it really is a farce that the west coast and Texas schools are penalized for their geographic location.  I get the sense that the NCAA would rather not have them in their organization...why don't they just kick them out and only allow schools that are clustered together in the Northeast.  ::)  What a joke.

In some cases, that is what the D-IV initiative looked like, except that criteria managed to identify the SCIAC as a D-IV candidate.

Ralph, we know that the Texas schools get poked in the eye with the same sharp stick, and it's a shame for the players. The high seed doesn't mean too much in Texas or on the West Coast.

You hate to whine, but geez, it gets tiresome.
Two words:  THE STREAK

Foss

I agree, coco. Gets a bit predictable and dull for the Texas and west coast teams, doesn't it.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

If Oxy wins, they will be the home team until Salem. :)

I could be wrong but I thought it was the higher seed that hosts the West/South semifinal. If Oxy defeats Willamette, they have homefield for the rest of their West Region games. However, since Millsaps is the South #1 seed, if they win their region I believe they would host Oxy in that situation. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll worry about correcting you when we get to the point that Oxy has beaten the Bearcats, the winner of UWW-St. Johns . . . and the survivor of the other half of the west bracket . . .

The debate over where the semi final is/should be is one that I would love to have!!!

According to these stats it looks like its going to be one great show in Salem this next weekend. I feel a little guilty when I say that I AM PUMPED to see the Tigers and the Bearcats go at it in up here. Oxy and the rest of the western conference teams always get the royal treatment. But if Oxy prevails they will be hosting for 2 subsequent games.

Lets hope for a first round victory so we can see UWW or St. Johns come play in the soot laden sky. I'm sure the tigers have already acclimated to the harsh conditions....I know Dale won't be taking it easy.

'Tooth - I hear ya. The winner of Oxy/Willamette is going to have a heck of a time just getting out of the West Region.

You are correct.  I skipped that step.

Here's the link to WU's webcasts -- http://www.willamette.edu/athletics/bsn/webcast/  I'm pretty sure this game will be on there.

I've sympathized with you guys for years, but this year I feel it directly too.  MUC was obviously going to be the overall #1 seed, but NCC (#1 in the North) would objectively be #2 (or at worst #3) - nonetheless, North plays East in the semis because MUC (whom they obviously expect to win the East) can host any North champion without a plane ride.

Ours is a minor (and one-year) complaint compared with yours, but it really sucks that the NCAA is so blatantly cheap and willing to say 'screw the seeds'.
