That was the Brett Elliot QB days!  Part of the Linfield Glory Days.  Don't tell them it's over, OxyBob--we just let them think the game this weekend is about them.

Interesting comment considering Linfield was the four time defending conference champion when Brett Elliot stepped on campus...I think you need to worry less about Linfield's bruised egos and more about your squad not embarrasing themselves at home this weekend.  That said, I still hope you win because I like Speckman, but you're making it more and more attractive to stick with my general rule of not rooting for rivals regardless of the situation...

I'm not at all worried about the Bearcats embarassing themselves this weekend.  They're a top notch team.   They're favored to win & I expect them to win, whether you cheer for them or not.   There's just a lot of chatter about Linfield for a weekend game that's WU vs. Oxy.  That's all!

I agree with you about Speckman -- have you voted for him today?  (Link on the WU Athletic site.)

I expect it as well...where's the link...I can't find it.

It's on the top right of the page on the rotating thing, but here's the address:

Quote from the Inland Dailey Bulletin 11/18/08:

"The University of La Verne football team finished 2-7 but the Leopards easily played the toughest competition of any SCIAC teams.  Coach Andy Ankeny's team played the 12th toughest schedule in the country according to D3football.com.  That's out of 242 schools that field teams.
The Leopards played two nationally-ranked, undefeated teams in No. 10 Willamette and No. 15 Occidental.
Here's how the other SCIAC teams ranked: No. 38 Cal Lutheran, No. 127 Redlands, No. 189 Pomona-Pitzer, No. 191 Claremont-Mudd-Scrippts, No. 201 Whittier and No. 203 Occidental."

Hmm . . . so maybe this validates Oxy's scheduling strategy?

CalCat,

Don't let OxyBob see that list.   ;)

OxyBob would point out Occidental's strength was hurt by not having to play Occidental  ;D

La Verne can spin their 2-7 season any way they want. Oxy was undefeated in the conference for the 4th time in 5 years. The Tigers walked over La Verne. Oxy's 3rd-string RB was the leading rusher. The game was over at halftime.

Exactly. Of course La Verne played a tough schedule. The Leopards played Oxy.

It would've really helped Oxy's ranking if LaVerne had a better season, giving their tough schedule.  That's why I was rooting for Whitworth, Cal Lutheran & Linfield to win out, once WU beat them.   Who wants to beat losing teams?

Unfortunately Oxy has the annual charity game with Colorado College to drag down SOS even more than the LV annual tilt.
Football is just the warm up.  Oxy is a rugby school anyway.
