The Truth 00

increases the scoring....look at some of the scores of games...they are definitely not the hockey scores i'm accustomed to seeing.

I am just posting away here trying to kill time until I can meet Mrs. JoseQviper for the Lightning game.  I'll go Linda Richmond on you, pretend I'm veclempt and give you a topic to discuss amongst yourselves.  Top 10 touchiest D3 football fan bases in the East Region:

1. Rowan
2. Union
3. Fisher
4. Ithaca (we have our problems)
5. Cortland
6. RPI
7. Hobart
8. Montclair
9. Springfield (does fan of angering JoseQViper count as an entire 'fan base'?)
10. Brockport

I think the list is pretty good, but I would move Montclair up (they're worse when they are more successful) and I think you gotta take 'port off the list.  PG04 is the only one left and he has turned into the "unbiased observer" around here.

Yes, that's what they did last time. I'm sure they'll do it again - no idea why.

it's been said, but for all NCAA playoffs you have to deal with NCAA and ticketing.  It makes everything more difficult.  It's too bad they taped off the fence at Springfield though, that was one of my favorite parts of that field.

Wait, I thought all checks involved body contact?  I have been picturing players poking each other with their sticks and chuckling all morning.  It is basically an attempt to steal the puck?

jose - think about it in terms of Lacrosse, it's just a stick check at the blade of the stick.

I couldn't miss out on the hockey discussion.  To answer your other question, hockey (pre-lockout) had gotten bogged down with huge defensemen and checking and holding.  The holding, and light hooking (to slow down the puck carrier) made the pro-game almost unbearable.  They got stricter on these rules and eliminated the 2 line pass rule to speed up the game and increase scoring (also made goalie pads smaller) it has worked great.  The pro game is now closer to the College and European game with speed and skill favored over size and strength.  Less fights, but a better game overall.

hmmmm, sounds like realistic and i said the same thing.....

yeah - sorry to be redundant, but I didn't want to miss the hockey discussion and I only skimmed the last page and started cutting and pasting.

fisheralum91

gotcha- i really do like the new rules though!

I think it has been great.  I love College Hockey and this really made it closer to College.  Besides, I would much rather see 7-10 goals in a game than 40+ saves by each goalie.  Overall though, I think the best thing is that they have been fair and consistent with it....not like the NFL and the BS calls to protect the QB like in the Seattle game.

fisheralum91

got it---but you know what-- the quality of the goaltending has gone up i think because of the open ice!

JQV

I don't know much, but I know the NHL is a 6 times more likely to sell JoseQViper a ticket when there are 6 goals in a game (like last night) than they were when there was 1 goal in a game.  It is the only thing I am positive about cheering for.

fisheralum91

def makes for a good game!

Love the 4 on 4 overtime and love love the shootout sd!

realistic

agreed...and Jose is right, it is especially great for the casual fan.  It's the same reason you can't sell most Americans on Soccer.

fisheralum91

was a soccer player at fish and i cant even get myself to watch a soccer game....

'gro

Jose,

In Gro's time in Tampa gro took in many arena ball games down at the forum, including arean bowl (whatever number) which the storm won. Gro believes that arena ball offers more bang for your buck than hockey.
