I, too, look forward to E8 prognostications here. Given the Saxons' schedule, particularly at home, and without Brenton Brady, AU could be back in the 5-5 neighborhood...yikes.

AUPepBand have faith. One player does not make a team.  It's nice to see Alfred come back alive.  Bustling down there today!

Seems like AU has really made some progress in the past couple of years.  I know a lot of my Hobart buddies have circled Nov. 4 (vs. Union) on their calendar, but I keep telling them not to overlook the Saxons on Oct. 28.

We are at your house, and I am sure it will be a tough contest for the Statesmen to get out of there with a win!

AUPepBand

aufan,

You're right about one player not making a team. However, you can't deny that Brady played a huge role....not only as a linebacker, short yardage go-to guy, but also as a team captain. The program is definitely on the rise overall, but will definitely be tested this year at Merrill Field.

Incidentally, congrats to Nick Coleman for being appointed to a full-time assistant coach position....and to Coach Murray for getting approval for a third position! Coleman, a speedy WR and return man, will coach the D-backs. He fits nicely into an affable coaching staff.

Hobart has ruled the series of late, including an OT win at Boswell when AU was 3-5 and the Statesmen 7-0. It's a nice rivalry going back to ICAC days, Alex Yunevich and George Davis in the '70s. 'Tis a shame there's no "Dutchmen Shoes" or "Cortaca Jug" to play for, unless perhaps we can muster an Albart Cup or a Hofred Mug. What do you think?

AUPepBand:   No, I wouldn't deny anything Brenton Brady did for the team. I'm sure the team will step up and go forward without him though. If we can get past the first game then we'll be rolling along.

Going to be a weird Courage Bowl this year with Foster and Fehrenbach on the opposite sideline-should be another good game though

NewSchoolAU19

AU-  9-1 with a tough loss to Thiel, and a birth to the NCAA's.

Saxon73

aufan,

You are right that the first game v Thiel will be critical.  Good thing we are at home and don't have to travel to Virginia like last year.  With many starters returning and some good sounding recruits, it will be a very interesting year.  Especially if the team improves throughout the year as in 2005.

NewSchoolAU19,

If AU doesn't beat Thiel in their first game of the year, unfortunately I find it hard to see the Saxons winning the last three games in a row v Hobart, Ithica and Fisher.  What a schedule!

Bringing in a nice 180? Good way to build a dynasty. We have a great O coming back, they work well together. No need to worry about the D Coach always builds a strong one.

NewSchoolAU19

Thats the problem with the AU of the past, you think Ithaca or Hobart fans would say that?

NewSchoolAU19

Hobart's overrated and Fisher sucks, Ithaca will be tuff like always

Saxon73:
Glad to have you back on board. It's been a long dull year but AUPepBand has been here.... also glad to see a new AU posters on here!

NewSchoolAU19:
Assuming you got a nice job to begin the student loan payoff process, where'd you end up? Hope you're close enough to take in the Saxon action. AUPepBand is working on a few new wrinkles with the band. And if, per chance, you play an instrument (kazoo is the best I can do), I'll bring you a shirt! Always room for more in the band.
You're right about the good chemistry among offensive personnel...I see them getting stronger with each game, same as last year. And you're also right about the D....Murray will assemble another tough unit. I think we'll surprise Thiel at home, it's the Springfield trip that worries me, although I think we could have gotten them in 2004 had it not been for the ref with PMS that imploded when we were knocking on the door to take the lead....

ER....welcome back. Hope your son is completely mended...your running game will be a "chore" with the two sets of wheels back there....

Knew about Foster, did not know that Noah had joined U of R as well....

Always a good game and certainly for a great cause...
