Thanks Bob, the boy is pretty well healed and looking forward to the season-should be a good one with you as always and AU on the rise-haven't heard much out of Fisherville yet, but I'm sure everyone is ready to go

AUPepBand,   Any word on anyone jumping ship this year or just not returning?  Chaz coming back or no? Heard that he might be heading to Hartwick but that was awhile ago.

not sure where in upstate you are, but the best upsny d3 fb rivalries IMO are:

Ithaca-Cortland
Union-RPI
Union-Hobart
Brockport-Cortland

I would add Ithaca - Fisher

Fisher/Ithaca has certainly gotten big in a hurry.  Between the recruiting battle, two overtime games in two years, and now an automatic bid, I think some savvy Bomber fans may consider it bigger than the Jug Game.

A quick look at the Ithaca roster shows that Killer Kam Kegerator Muhammed is no longer with the team.

Also, Ryan Terlecki has moved to LB... I assume that gives Blumenauer and Stephens the start at the safties position, with Napoleone locking up one of the CB roles.

The fact the foster is gone should be a good sign, the fisher offensive fell apart in the last two games due to his play calling.  To say that the Fisher sucks is a bold face lie.  Fisher's back up running back is better than most of the running backs in the E8 if not the second or third and Robbie is by far one of the best running backs in D3 and with Such having a year under his belt.  and lets not forget Gene Lang on the d

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

I had heard that Blake Fuller won't be back. Anything beyond that I can't really confirm at this time. Will know more tomorrow when camp opens. I have heard that Chaz won't be playing for AU but no word whether he's going elsewhere... I also haven't heard of any transfers (coming or going). Time will tell.

Hey all,
I played football at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN...MIAC...but now live in upstate NY for graduate school and am wondering what games I should hit up this fall and if there are any traditional tailgating that I could attend.  I am a good 'ol Minnesota boy who doesn't like St. Johns (seeing as they were our rival when I played at BU).  Anyways, give me the skinny on the Empire 8 and I hope to see some of you guys at a game or 2 that you guys recommend!

Royal:

If you're in Rochester, ALFRED is a hop (on 390 South), a skip (down 36 South) and a jump (on I-86 West) away....Alfred (in the picturesque foothills of the Allegheny Mountains) was 9-2 in '05 and opens with Thiel (11-1 in '05) at 1 p.m. Sept. 9. If the Saxons have as good a start as '05, they finish '06 with three straight home games with playoff implications with Hobart (9-2 and NCAAs in '05) Oct. 28, Ithaca (8-3 and NCAAs in '05) Nov. 4, and Fisher (8-3 and ECACs in '05) Nov. 11. Kickoff is 1 p.m. Admission is $5 but the pep band is well worth the price of admission!

A good friend of mine who did graduate work here at Alfred University went on to earn a divinity degree at Bethel. He's now pastoring a church in Milton, WI. Welcome to Upstate NY!

I would agree that Fisher has, or will become, a more influential game on the Bomber schedule than Cortaca.  Not sure if the hatred between Cortland and Ithaca, on that special day in November, will ever be duplicated.  However, Fisher vs IC is something special.  I enjoyed Fisher vs. IC more than Cortaca last year.

Lets fire up the Weber!

As a Bombers fan, I would agree that Fisher had some of the strangest play calling I've seen in the past couple years.

Fisher vs. IC has more football-related implications than any game on the Bombers' schedule.  But, that doesn't mean it will surpass the Jug as the biggest game on the schedule.  College Football is about rivalries, not playoffs.  That is the thing the BCS can't seem to figure out.  It is more important for Florida to beat FSU, or Auburn to beat Alabama, or Texas to beat Oklahoma, etc, than it is for any of those teams to win the NC.

Also, lets give Fisher vs. IC a few years before we make it a big game.  For now, it is the big game of the moment.  There is a chance it will turn out to be just like IC v. Union in the 90s, or IC vs. Buff State, or IC vs. Springfield, or more recently, IC vs. Brockport.  All those games had huge football implications and looked as if they would be huge games for years to come but those other schools hit peaks and valleys making the game less important.  Fisher has all the makings of long term success.  They have a strong system, good facilities, and a good recruiting base.  But they have to have long term success before Fish-IC gets automatically circled on every calendar.  Remember, SC has a great system and a good recruiting base too.  They fell on hard times in recent years anyway.

is the kegerator that really big guy?  Also, what happened to him?
Go Bombers!

Fisher isn't as good of a rivalry.  Cortaca is for a jug... Fisher isn't for anything.  If you get in a fight with a guy at a bar and you beat him up, it is better if you get to take his gf home with you when you win or give him your gf if you lose.  it woudl make winnning and losing more important.  Of course, I don't have a gf, and you can't bang a jug, so this isn't an exact metaphor, but cortland is a better rival.

I think you should stick to trying to get a gf and stop talking about football.  I think most players would rank the playoffs #1 and Corland #2.

Going to be a weird Courage Bowl this year with Foster and Fehrenbach on the opposite sideline-should be another good game though

Not sad to see Foster go....

Was getting sick of:
-the tripple reverse passes on 4th down vs Brockport, in field goal range.
-the calling of plays w/o even practicing them the entire season (QB sneak vs IC in 03, seriously who doesnt practice the QB sneak at least once??)
-the pass vs Norwich, instead of running the ball w/ under 1 minute left, they throw it and get picked and Norwich throws a Hail Mary to win it.
-the out pass thrown vs press coverage to the wide side of the field vs DV in the NCAA's
