Theaprof, et al., Fisher fans are generally pretty nice people once you get to know them a bit.  But, I will give you this one warning as you prepare for their invasion, get your City Council to pass an emergency cowbell ban.  Trust me, your ears will thank you...

NCAA seems to have cracked down on the cowbells during the playoffs.  Fisher SID was seen walking around and informing fans that "artificial noisemakers" were against NCAA regulations.  Though from the Pep Band's knowledge those rules are only supposed to be in effect while either team is in their cadence.

AUPepBand did some extensive research into the question of "artificial noisemakers" at D3 football games. Thanks to that clever "copy and paste" feature that was never part of the old Royal typewriter on which AUPepBand learned to type, here 'tis:

Alright, after some research, AUPepBand has discovered that the NCAA Football Rules Committee in February 2006 voted to eliminate Rule 3-3-3-f-4 regarding crowd noise.

Rule 3-3-3-f-4, Referee's Discretionary Timeout
Change: To delete the rule relating to excessive crowd noise.

Rationale: This rule is rarely used in the game currently, as most teams use hand signals to communicate. Additionally, this rule is largely unenforceable.

The NCAA Division III Football Playoff Handbook, however, states that:

Appendix H...15. Proper crowd control must be in place at all times. Security for the visiting team is a priority. Artificial noisemakers are not allowed....17.Band shall not be allowed to play after the ball has been declared ready for play by the referee.

Likewise, the ECAC D3 Bowl Games prohibit artificial noisemakers:

Artificial noisemakers, air horns and electronic amplifiers shall not be permitted, and such instruments shall be removed from the playing field and spectator areas. Bands or any component thereof, shall not play while the game is in progress. The tournament manager shall be responsible for enforcing these provisions.

These refer, respectively, to NCAA and ECAC post-season contests. However, during NCAA regular season contests, it's my understanding from the elimination of Rule 3-3-3-f-4, artificial noisemakers, drums, etc. are not prohibited.

AUPepBand asks that he be corrected if he is in error here.

Said post appeared last month in the "Pep Bands vs. Canned Music" question under the "General Football" subject heading. Would say it's time for Fisher fans to pool their instrumental talent and form their pep band!

I agree give the first and second round games home games and then the last 3 and consolation will be bowl games as in rose orange, fiesta, sugar on a rotating basis and Jose at the end of the season the two Stagg bowl teams will have each played 15 games

Please understand that AU's pep band uses the term "band" rather loosely. On a given Saturday, a dozen instrumentalists may comprise AU Pep Band. At other times, AU Pep Band may include no more than a sousaphone, trumpet, trombone and bass drum. (Oops....in deference to AU Pep Band's roots, the band will ALWAYS include a kazoo.)

a catchy tune...

Of course, when the Saxons score, AU Pep Band also SINGS the AU fight song. Likewise, Fisher fans should also SING the Fisher fight song...the lyrics, as penned by AUPepBand under inspiration of St. John the Fisherman himself, are as follows:

Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring,
Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring.
Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring,
Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring.
Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring,
Ring, ring-ring, ring, ring, ring ring,
Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring-ring, ring, ring, ring, ring!

How do you guys think the size of Mahony, Becton and Pyz match up vs the MUC O-line?

Do you think these guys can make a difference in the MUC run game?

I think they'll be huge in the game. If we can get those three boys to have one of the best games of their lives, our backers such as Lang etc... will be able to make the plays they've been making all season long.

Will be difficult though, those boys are big, mean & athletic that we'll be facing.
