Well, at least the Saxons got two 3rd team selections for 2006.  After getting completely snubbed in 2005, I didn't think we'd get any this year.  I wonder if there is a playoff team bias a la the MVP voting in MLB.

Well, Kazoo, Alfred didn't nominate anyone last year, so it would've been tough to put any Alfred players on the team.

AUPepBand remembers speaking with SID last year and said SID insisted he made nominations...in fact, some snafu indicated it was not received first time so he sent in nominations a second time, only to be rejected because an SID could not make nominations more than once. Something like that. AUPepBand suggests we blame it on a computer.

Pat Coleman suggests as a former SID that that's the time to contact the people running the nominations to inquire as to what's going on ... but staying silent, that definitely worked out.

chris: When Ginn was 12, and the kids in the neighborhood knocked on his door and said to him "come out and play football", do you think he replied "I've played enough this week; I'm saving myself for the NFL"? Football players love to play football and play it at every chance. If they, irrespective of their level of play, don't do so out of love for the game, they aren't really football players but  are just working stiffs, who happen to participate in football for some kind of emolument or other external motive.

Frank Rossi admires Pat Coleman more today for having spoken in the third person.  Soon, he may begin ranting about non-football-related topics and Melissa on the various boards!

Pep- hey, i just read your post and was about to defend AU, ha!   Things are great but I can't wait for xmas break.  I'm goin home to meet with the fam and friends.  How bout Jordan?  He's coaching bball at AA?  Thats great.  What happened to cummings, or is that old news?

Sarge: you think Fisher can hang around with Mount?

I absolutely do think they can hang around.  I think they are definately underdogs by 10 or 11 points, but if their offense gets on track and they can keep Mount's offense off the field, well... its a wierd shaped ball with wierd bounces.  Anything is possible.

I completely agree and you have to understand that I'm playing devil's advocate here.  But the fact of the matter is that these guys (despite my post regarding academics) are not all there trying to get a college degree (some are).  For instance take McGahee a couple years back.  They did an amazing job reconstructing his knee, but what if he never played again?  From the sounds of his interviews (or lack there of, someone else was always talking for him) he was no road scholar (and that shouldn't surprise us coming from the convict U of Miami).  Where would he be right now?  You think he wouldn't be sitting around waiting to go into work tonight as a rent-a-cop on the night shift cursing the whole playoff system for the millions he lost (if it had been from a playoff system, work with me)?

Listen, I was a player once and was lucky enough to never get hurt (besides celebrating a TD once but thats neither here nor there- Knew you would bring it up PEP).  And I would've loved to play more games to prove that we were the best given that chance.  However, if I was one of the great players that was going to be drafted in the first round the following year, I came from a broken or poor family, or my academic career paled in comparison to my football career, then I'm not sure how I would feel.

I'm trying to get the video of the Fisher game but it just says Whitewater and Wesley...

thanks pg- it worked!

Went deep for Garcon for the first time, but couldn't pull it in -- the padded glove probably didn't affect that pass, but they haven't exploited his speed much perhaps because of it so far...
