What I saw at the CU vs IC scrimmage.

I was impressed with Coach Pendergrast. Good to have you here coach P.  New energy was brought to the defense and program with him on the sideline.  you could see the impact a former D1 coach had on our defense.

D-line recorded a safety on a funky CU bootleg play.  three interceptions recorded on the day for IC.  Byers, wow, good work out there from that man.

The special teams debate will remain a debate.  the first four kicks Kit had went wide left, wide right, or just shank completey.  but, in the two minute drill he was right on.  the goalie hit an extra point that landed on the 4th lane of the track.  so his leg is for real. For the most part though the "1st kick team" was on when a situation came up. we did have some snapper issues but, they were all fixed by the end of the scrimmage.

Our punter had a good showing.  pinned cornell down on the 2 on one.  Possibly more impressive was #9. very good punt returner.  no drops on about 20 attempts.  The grandfather of a student on CU sat in front of us and said at Chenango Forks the kick specialized in punt returns.  Good things expected from him.

Offensively;  the tight end , Oertel, was very good. he had a nice 44 yard gain off a 10 yard pass.  Bostic, WR, is a legit athlete, raw though.  Threw it up to him a couple of times but out of reach on those attempts.  Our running game had 4 or 5 runs for 6-8 yards. most were 3-4, when attempted.  Its tough to do so on CU when they are all 6"-4'  on the d-line.  However, Davis and Bias were on rest. Our QBs looked good when scrambling and comfortable in the pocket. Juvon had a beatiful 20 yd pass that threaded the needle between 2 CBs right to the #'s on Gordons chest.

We should have a good one this saturday.  Looking forward to the F-Lot.

fire up the WEBER!

Technically there is already a D3Sports guy from the E8.  John McGraw is an IC alum but, given his current occupation (Voice of Cortland radio) we have to wonder if he has wandered from the green pastures. Seriously though, I am wondering if "Adam Samrov" is an alias for Budcrew08?

Jose-
if it is ill bring him back to utica, buy him an inordinate amount of wings and beer from cavallos' and make sure that he gives the E8 a host of articles!!

fisheralum05:  According to the Cortland site, they scrimmage Hobart on Sept. 2.  Don't know who SJF would scrimmage. Anyone?

Nice research Dubbz.  After reading the quotes Pat put in his blog, I have been wondering about this team.  Check your personal messages.

Just to get a rise I had typed "I figure trying to tackle Willis McGahee is the best preparation possible for Baez, Davis and Donovan so it would be in Fisher's best interest to scrimmage Buffalo."  But then I thought better of it.  Glad I could ruin your computer fisheralum...

nice...
its going to be a very interesting season...
Just hope the alma mater doesnt get too one dimensional...

For those of you curious about Huntingdon, they are kind enough to provide a scouting report after every practice.

Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th
