since guys are pumping up their teams, i'll do my best to pump up sc. they are returning the reigning conference player of the year as well as the core of their offense. no one on this board has EVER said anything about their defense being legit so we don't even have to go there. they get fisher and ithaca both at home (back to back - thats so rough). they won't get a home game until the 5th game of the season and they have a big early test at merrill field...not the easiest place to play or bus trip to endure. also, they open up with union at union and i've heard that rowan might be on the schedule....that is not easy at all. in fact, i think they play the best out of conference schedule of any team in the e8.

as far as sjf solving the option and that won't be a problem....that's a silly statement. sjf gave up 24 in 2004 (sc lost like 7 fumbles that game too) and only 14 in 2005. then sc puts up 55 on them this year but gets shut down in the playoffs. its an up and down thing...plus losing lang will be a huge loss in the middle of that defense.  and just to point out again, sharpe is back, the best option qb ever at sc and that's saying a lot.

i don't know who the last private school was to beat ithaca at home but i know sc beat them in 2000 in a shootout. it hasn't been that long has it?

i'm a big fan of this e8 nation thing.

well - I'll kick around a little football here, since I was intrigued by some discussion yesterday and then what Truth had to say.

I think the "big three" (if you will) will be kicking around in some order next season as well.  But I would possibly go as far to say Springfield may be the front runner (as much as there can be one with more than 8 months to go) for next season.  Another year in the system and the returning POY is impressive enough....but SJF and IC at Springfield is a HUGE advantage for the Pride.  Yeah the defense is suspect, but they don't ever seem to have a problem putting up 60 points at home.

Make it interesting with SJF replacing the more marquee names.  I will be interested to hear any off season rumblings, transfers pick ups, etc.

That just made me think.  Do some of the other schools have a lot of guys who play one sport as freshman and then add sports as upperclassmen?  Ithaca has had some success with that in the past.  Most notably Abe Ceesay from the hoops team playing as a junior and senior (I believe) on the football team......

The Chairman is swinging through.  I forgot that 8am was the deadline for discussiong of our name.  Seeing near unanimity during debate the Chairman will close discussion on the issue and bypass the vote.  From this moment forward E8PP will forever be known by its sovereign name:

E8 Nation

Be it so ordered.

Nicely done CV - I'm in agreement.

I think you'll need some help from AU to tap that out correctly.

And, I think that you'll need further assistance if you continue to hear that during the middle of the day FA!

I think you meant to say "Big 4"?  Alfred beat Ithaca, lost to Springfield in a shootout, and didnt fair as well against Fisher (niether did Ithaca).  We too have a quarterback returning next year.  His name is Paul Keeley.  He's ok.  He just gives AU the chance to win EVERY game he plays in (not that they will, but he's that dangerous when hot).  Also, they return their best reciever (all east 3rd team) as a soph., and a back named newsome that will finally come into his own to create his OWN shadow.  The defense?  One word - Murray.  Game over.  They are always good.

Now that I've stirred the pot, anyone know the exact time of the game 2morrow?  I'm thinkin bout heading up.  2 hour drive.

realistic

the game is at 4p.

and I meant Big 3....

Sarge...untill AU can beat two of the 3 and go to the NCAA's they can not be considered part of the big 3

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Could AU not be part of the "Big Four" since AU has gone 3-3 against your "Big Three" during the past two years? After all, AU in the past two seasons, has beaten each of your "Big Three."

No wait, an NCAA invitation is required to be in the "Big Three" even though the Saxons finished second in the E8 in 2005 (with the best overall record at 9-2) and third (tied with Ithaca) in 2006 in the Empire 8?

Why not make your "Big Three" the "Big Two" if you want to be so exclusive?

it really isn't a shot against Alfred.  There needs to be a track record of success.  Is Alfred that #4 team, yes.  Is there a "big four"?  No.  Even further with the way Springfield is up and down (though I think they will be very good next year) it might even be a big 2.  thats just the way it is.

I would tend to agree AU - The Saxons will have to get to the NCAA's in my opinion before they can be considered a top tier team.

That's not saying they can't or won't be this coming year, but in the past few years they've been just good enough to spoil someone's season, but not quite good enough to get to the dance.

We'll see how it all shakes out.

fisheralum91

Have a good weekend boys!
Oh----top 3 sorry AU.

and in all honesty Springfield is on probation this year they need ot be at the top again or else it's back to the big two
