The Truth 00

yea garcon was fired up though. he torches through that secondary in the 3rd quarter on his 1st touchdown and that was a serious dagger. i understand he might come off as cocky and whatnot but the kid was fired up. let him be...

The Truth 00

ok, a few thoughts from yesterday's game....

a) why does mt. union start that other qb #6? micheli dominated that game.

b) #47 of MUC reminds me of another #47 that played for ohio state last year. that kid was  a beast.

c) the kleppe kid was awesome. he got double teamed almost every play and those guys couldn't block him at the end of the game.

d) i can see hom kmic ran for 380 against fisher...he's pretty damn good.

e) that beaver kid was awesome. i kept having visions of him playing fullback for springfield...then i woke up.

Can someone enlighten me, I just saw Chris Sharpe won muhlberger award (sp) for top D3 player, is that like the heisman for D3? Whats Gagliardi then?

The Melberger really doesnt have that much cred anymore since the Pincelli debacle a few years ago.  It stopped handing out the award for some while.  The Gagliardi is the D3 Heisman, the Melberger is a notch (or two) below it....

If Ohio State shared that opinion, Jim Tressell wouldn't be coaching for another national championship.  Many had similar thoughts about him moving from Youngstown State to Ohio State, but he's proven that coaching winners is definitely transferable from one level to another.  BTW, Tressell played QB at OAC's Baldwin-Wallace College.

Read the first couple of posts in the Gagliardi Award thread in the General Football Board....

Basically Dan Pincelli of Hartwick won the Award in 2002, none of the best football players were even finalists for it.......

Fisher's never won at Butterfield!

Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

I would say this, too -- they have handed out their award every year, but not to the best player in Division III football.

After the 2002 debacle, in which the best player in Division III was in Wilkes-Barre but they did not choose him, the Wilkes-Barre Touchdown Club did choose the best Division III player in Wilkes-Barres, Wilkes RB Brett Trichilo. One of those two years he was a first team All-American and a passable choice. But the second year he struggled because of injury and was only an honorable mention pick.

The Melberger pissed away the credibility it had. They used to put on a great award. But politics intervened. Now it seems they just pick the best player within a few hundred miles of Wilkes-Barre.

That's not to down Chris Sharpe. We named him an All-American for a reason. But he was not on the short list for our offensive player of the year.

That player, I'm assuming, was King's Steve Wilson who was a man-beast.

Yeah, man. What you said.

The Chairman is back from his weekend in Chicago.  It was an eventful weekend to be sure but here are three quick highlights:

1) E8 Nation was almost forced to invoke its equivalent of the 25th Amendment as the Chairman's reign was nearly brought to a bloody end when the Bucs came back and tied the game.  Good safety tip, don't taunt Bears fans, in Chicago, when they already know you are cold.

2) The Chairman remembers why he chose to govern remotely from a location far south of the Empire State.

3) The Chairman and the Future First Lady of E8 Nation were having lunch at Chicago's famous Uno Pizzeria on Saterday.  The Chairman overhears two Mount fans talking about the Stagg Bowl at the next table.  As they were leaving their friends early, to go watch the game at ESPNZone, the Chairman may or may not have leaned in and said "Mount Union is ok, but they are no Ithaca."
