Hey Tags....Happy New Year!
Prattsburgh 74, A-A 19

Back at you AU --- Sorry to see your program go through that tough of a time. We're pretty decent this year, we'll see how we stack up vs. Campbell though.

Burke always gets the most out of what he grows (from grade school up) in Prattsburgh and sometimes goes overseas to bring in some talent! Outstanding program. A-A has no such thing. A-A has a solid youth soccer program and Coach Rygiel will get the most out of those kids and the Eagles will soon have a state soccer title (should have gotten it this year!). A-A needs a youth basketball program to feed the school teams. Pep has coached for 12 years at Hornell Y (including P'burg's Zack Mullen) but their numbers dropped considerably this year. Thus, Pep may look to getting involved with starting some A-A youth basketball program.

It's early, but don't sat I didn't tell you so. See 18197

Are the Buckeyes really that bad?

Sir Spiedie

Yes, apparently they're really that bad.

AUPepBand

Gee, the last time the Buckeyes actually played a game was Nov. 18, back when the Saxons rallied to beat UR in their ECAC Bowl. That was 51 days ago. More than seven weeks. Not a Buckeye fan so not posting this in their defense. Just taking a look at logistics.

Imagine a Mount Union squad playing ten games in ten weeks, then taking seven weeks off before playing one game to determine the national championship?

Gotta spread some love around....seems like the boards have dried up and people complain of being mysteriously smitten.

+K to all posters on the past three pages.... there, that's better. +K to everyone on here whether they deserve it or not!

K+ to you and the Alfred Sun for recognizing Boise State as national champs.

The Truth 00

ohio who?

boise st CANNOT be considered national champs. give me another reason why despite their 13-0 record against the likes of idaho and fresno state?

AUPepBand

Truth: Consider the source.....the Alfred Sun, a pretty good newspaper read where other newspapers dare not go.

AUPepBand believes an undefeated Boise State, like an undefeated Curry in D3, deserves a shot at running a playoff table. Until they have playoffs, a national championship will always be disputed. Pep doesn't think the Alfred Sun's declaration will cause too many ripples in the big pond of media sentiments.

Here's a few more reasons:
Boise State 43, Oklahoma 42
Boise State 42, Oregon St 14 (team that upset USC)
Boise State 41, Hawaii 34
Boise State 36, Utah 3
Boise State 38, Nevada 7

You want a reason?  How about b/c the BCS sucks?

The Truth 00

i said a few days ago i'd much rather see some kind of playoff format...but the bcs won this year. florida was the right team in the final, not michigan as evidenced by their poor showing in the rose bowl and florida's dominance of ohio state.  i'm just saying that the bcs got it right 2 years in a row.

the problem pep, is that boise st is a curry college, compared against some of those other schools. yea boise won a big game and i'm not saying oklahoma didn't play hard. however, boise st had much more to play for than oklahoma. if OU won, they were expected to win. if they lost, it was a big deal. even if the bcs goes to a 4 team playoff in 2010 (something i read today), boise state still doesn't have the credentials to get there. i know you're saying everyone deserves a fair shot but c'mon. they play in a crap conference (like curry) and their record is a little misleading. their best win was against oregon state (who beat usc)...but we can't play that who beat who game in this. plus, i don't know if i could watch jared zabransky and his hillbilly trailor talk anymore.

BCS didn't win crap this year.  Who is to say USC didn't belong in the national championship or some other team, just because Florida beat Ohio State after a 50 day layoff doesn't mean they are the best team.  Playoffs tests you and tests you again and if you want to win a national championship you have to prove yourself round after round... And with Boise State, well you can't discredit them so quickly because upsets can happen.  Look at George Mason last year in basketball, they were beating all of the big dogs (including absurdly favored UConn) up until the final four.  So Boise State could have beaten more teams, the point is we DON'T know.  BCS pisses me off

chris7sarge

A playoff format would only hurt Boise St.  They would not have been able to physically sustain themselves for 3, 4, or 5 weeks of playoffs against much bigger opponents.
Furthermore, Boise St. would've been killed in a conference like the SEC.  They would have finished their season with 4 losses (at least).  The bowl system was great for them because on any given night the stars can align and anyone can beat anyone.  On one night though.  Let's not get carried away and put them up there with Florida or LSU (possibly the best 2 loss team EVER).
The BCS did get it right.  They took the best team, from the best conference, and kicked the crap outta the best team from the rest of the country.
