It has been done in Syracuse. In 1959 Syracuse was the consensus national champion. Rutgers has never been there.

Sir Spiedie

The point is that if Rutgers can go from BigEast doormat to BCS contender in a VERY short period of time, in the northeast, at a school which has a very good academic rep, there is no reason Syracuse could not do the same thing.
Greg Schiano did it with the committment of the administration which built a very nice stadium, coralling the New Jersey talent which was going elsewhere (particularly Penn State), and heavily recruiting South Florida, an area he knows well from his time at Miami.  Yes, Rutgers runs football camps in South Florida.
Syracuse may have been there in 1959 ( and Cornell in 1939, and Colgate in 1932, at least for a piece), but I dare say even the most diehard 'Cuse fans are happy with the last few seasons, and are all hoping for a turnaround.

Sir Spiedie

By the way, my guess is that the reason Schiano did not take the Miami job is that he wants the Penn State job when it becomes available.

Isn't Schiano a Jersey Boy?

Schiano grew up in Wyckoff NJ and attended and played at Bucknell.

I guess that would make him a Jersey Boy. We had a Jersey Girl when I was just a lad....provided all of our milk and butter on the farm.  ;)

No.

aw c'mon pep - you tell me to bring some jabs and then you don't respond in kind?

TGP is disappointed.  BTW - TGP has been to THE Jersey, home of the original jersey cows, across the pond.  A very beautiful spot.

The Truth 00

i'm glad i don't live in upstate ny. you guys have been getting crapped on by mother nature...apparently the imodium AD isn't working.

superman57

the albany area is getting ready to get hammered tonight and tommorow....

so I found this on ESPN insider

5. Whitworth TE Michael Allan
Allan is the first D-III prospect invited to the scouting combine since WR Ryan Hoag in 2003. Although Allan lacks ideal strength and is a marginal-at-best in-line blocker, there's a lot to like about his blend of size, hands and top-end speed. The 6-foot-6, 252-pound tight end prospect could land a late-round spot in the draft if he times out as well as expected in the 40-yard dash and agility drills.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

I haven't been across the pond, but almost attended an international obituary writers conference in Bath, England in 2005. Looking at a map of Jersey and its sister island Guernsey, makes me wonder if Alfred, King of the Saxons, spent any time there.

Valentines Day!!!!      Oh, Boy.      Whether we like it or not , here it is.
Gentlemen, as Spike Lee would say,   Do the Right Thing

TGP---One forgets a true Jersey Girl on Valentines Day at their own extreme risk.
Believe me on this one.

Sir Spiedie

And no, the cemetery is not an appropriate place to get ones flowers. Neither is the dumpster behind the hospital.

Sir Spiedie

Checked the PeP cam this morning and King Al had a hat and scarf on and Academic Alley looked pretty deserted.
Binghamton and Albany I heard were hard hit.

Survivors, report in please.
