Pep liked the A over the U on the helmets that the Saxons had several seasons ago....much like Auburn's. It worked well for awhile until AU was forced to abandon it after the Saxons' placekicker Ryan Rambacher and holder Brian Keefer were featured in a fall 2000 USA Today article that was spotted by Auburn University trademark attorneys. (Keefer had been holding for Rambacher since youth football and joked that if Rambacher got an NFL kicking contract, the two came as a package deal). Pep is sorry Li'l Alf caved to the Auburn attorneys as Pep could prove that said logo appeared on Alfred University baseball uniforms in the early 1900s. Nevertheless, "AU" in an oval has sufficed.

Frickin lawyers man...always trying to hold the little man down... ;)

Occasionally one will encounter a "good" lawyer. Pep was well represented in a recent "situation" not of his own making, after which Pep's counsel said that because he had another client he was representing simultaneously, there would be no charge. Pep is willing to bet the Chairman would have done the same.  8)

+k Jose.....getting ready for Florida trip...March 3-11. Deland, here we come!

Good evening gents - checking in for the first time in a while... Hope all is well with everyone in the E8 Nation.

All this talk about snow & no mention of my place of residence Rochester or my Alum Oswego???

Pep- We can't seem to take down Goliath... hopefully we get a Section V title though. Finney looks to be tough. I see that C-S didn't draw a #1 seed either. Woudn't mind seeing them lose by 25 in their opener!!!

Talk later guys.

I wish I had something to say... Feel like contributing for the first time in a while.

Pep -- Have fun in Deland, it's been coolish down here lately.

Tags....Prattsburgh came close twice! The Vikings will certainly have their hands full with CG Finney, assuming they get past Notre Dame of Batavia, always a nemesis in DD. The competition is tough in DD, while Whitesville in D is a formidable foe. Afraid I have to go with Finney to take the DD. They have been playing tougher competition all season long. C-S is only team in a very weak Steuben County League to give Prattsburgh a game.

Several years ago, sat in disbelief in D finals at War Memorial when Burke's team blew what I remembered being like a 20 point lead to Whitesville in the fourth quarter as the Blue Jays prevailed. Was shocked Burke didn't have an answer to the Whitesville onslaught.

If you want something to talk about, I could always bring up the football series record between Alfred and Brockport....that might get you riled up.  :D      Pep's hoping Florida's cooler weather will subside just in time for our arrival on Sunday, March 4.

Some think I'm crazy getting on an Alfred University bus as the lone "chaperone" for 30 college students for a nine-day 3,000+-mile round trip to build a house for Habitat for Humanity. Truth be told, I wondered what the heck I was doing on that initial trip....this will be my fifth consecutive and Pep can't imagine any better way to spend AU's Spring Break (not to mention I get five days off with pay).  ;D

Ordered a copy of Lois Butterfield's book last night. Hope it arrives before the trip; will probably make good reading for the bus ride. Any IC fans read it? Reviews?

When they were playing at Alfred, they had to catch the pig and skin it....then stuffed it with rocks from Canacadea Creek.

Knew that would get a rise out of you, pg.  +K just for showing up here at a very quiet E8 Nation!

Kids got too comfortable Pep, they played like it was already over. I thought we had another one in the bag... Unfortunately you can only think like that during the game when you're sitting in the stands!

Yes  :P

Well it's good to have a little interaction here. Having read "The Sweet Season," I've found more company over in the West Region on the Minnesota IAC boards. In fact, Pep is planning to make a trip out to Collegeville, MN to experience the "Stiftungsfestivies" (their tailgate) and a St. John's football game vs. Marietta (OAC) on Sept. 1. After all, St. John's led the nation in attendance. Hope to make some observations and perhaps learn how we might do things better at Alfred to draw larger crowds. (Winning a national championship would probably help).

But on second thought, there aren't too many people out here in these hills....

I'm not even sure a national championship would make the crowd as good or big as what collegeville sounds like it is1

Also, in that case, we'd have to discuss the likelihood of an eastern team getting to the finals let alone winning it all first  :D
