Going into halftime SJF is up 17-0, could of been worse as Robinson fumbled into the endzone on SJF's 2nd possesion of the game and SJF blocked a punt inside the Kings 20 yd line w/ 30 seconds left but came away with no points.

As an IC alum and current Cornell MBA candidate I am constatly defending the Bombers to my new CU classmates, does anybody know the lifetime wins/losses against Cornell??

Thx fellas,

JBD

btw, i realize they don't play in the regular season, only scrimmages, just wondering if anybody keeps score. .

Congrats to the bombers on a good opening day...Heenehan having a good first game puts any Espo memories outta my head...lookin forward to the rest of the season

Great start for Juvan. Can't argue with 23-33, 303 yds, 3 TD's. Most importantly, ZERO turnovers. Can't ask for much more from a young QB.

Any of the guys who went to the game want to give a short report about it. I'm in Houston for the weekend to see my Mets and I couldn't catch any of today's game. Sounds like it was a pretty convincing W.

Fisher is looking very impressive so far today, even though they have had a couple of yips, fumbling inside the 10, not scoring after a blocked punt and a couple of fumbles in the 2nd half. Despite all that, they still lead 24-0 in the 4th quarter. Robinson and Reile have over 200 + yards rushing.

Ive got to disagree a bit, their running game is VERY impressive but their passing and redzone offense has looked horrid for the most part today.  Grant it the conditions are crap, but Sooch is like 9-27 on the day....they've got to stop shooting themself in the foot near the goal line.

Backups are in for SJF as they get an 18 yd Run after another Stepnick interception (giving the junior 11 for his career).....

30-0 SJF....

Hawks-  Thanks for the kind words... we wish you all a safe trip home, and the best for the rest of the season.

Quick words from the game:

It was indeed a dominating performance.  The defensive line had a huge push, and the offensive line gave Juvan tons and tons of time in the pocket.  Probably the most time I've seen in seven Bomber years.  The slop was a plus for the Bombers who had a major size and strength advantage, opposed to the speedy but relatively small Hawks.

Congrats to new O-Coordinaot Rob Schur, and Dan Juvan in their first big start as Bombers.  The offense didn't quite have the explosiveness of last year, but hey, what can you expect from a first time starter.  20-30 for 300 yards?  A superb effort.  Donavan looked strong, and it was a great coming out party for Seamus Hogan.

And hooray for the defense.  The move to the 3-4 (I assume we can talk about that now, after keeping it a secret for month) may end up looking like a brilliant move.  All sorts of different looks, pressure from the d-line, and the secondary keeping the explosive Hawks relatively in check.  A great effort.

Win number one, and more to be done!

3-4!!!!!!

Last time the bombers used a 3-4 was 1994.  I thought about that specifically during that Union game when guys just seemed out of place all the time.  I believe that with the defensive talent that the bombers had last year, the 3-4 would have been a perfect fit.  Im glad the change was made.

Ithaca should really think about going to a 5-2 defense like Union has if they cant improve.  a 4-3 is too hard to run if you dont have the players to do it.  Ithaca always ran a 3-4/5-2 before 1994.  something has to change there.

Congrats to the Bombers on winning their home opener...(as usual). Also, congrats to Fisher on thumping Kings. Looks like Robinson and Reile, the R&R Express, got pretty equal number of carries, and with good results (as usual).

While y'all were out in the rain, AU Pep Band was holding a "Band Camp," thanks to support from AU Performing Arts Division. With a little more work, we may even sound like a band!

This board is pretty dead so i'll post a quick thought or two on the Fisher game a few days ago.

Robinson and Reile are pretty sweet, this much is obvious.  Lining up Reile as a WR though would be even sweeter since he has pretty decent hands and we don't have Noah any longer.  This brings me to my next thought..... I hope it was just the really crappy weather or some first game jitters but the QB for Fisher looked really really suspect.  Last year he didn't have to throw pin point passes, all he had to do was throw it in the general vicinity of Noah and he would pull it down, now he isn't here to make up for those mistakes.  There were a couple of key plays with wide open WR's and the quarterback just over or under threw it.  Finally the defense looked pretty solid for the beginning of the season, Lang did his thing, the corners did pretty well, and there is one person i wasn't familiar with (number 74?) who had possibly 3 sacks and another tackle for a loss.  Sooooo those are my thoughts, good stuff I know.  Can't wait for this Saturday for the opportunity to beat an LL team yayyyyyyy
