HAPPY BELATED EASTER E8....where are schedules for next year posted?   are they out yet?

fisheralum91

Also a happy belated holiday!
Glad to hear the hot stove stuff.
I know whites of their eyes stuff- but any good talk on recruiting just leads up to good banter this fall!!

Sir Spiedie

Here's a little recruiting news to whet your appetite, albeit, out of conference.http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070405/SPORTS/104050006/1002

One of the Johnnies' recruits says he attended all of St. John's home games last year and loves the atmosphere.

St. John's led the D3 nation in football attendance in 2006, averaging more than 7,500 fans per game. We can all learn from the Johnnies.

Nice find, Sir Spiedie....+K

Correction:
For the 10th time in 14 years, Saint John's University was the top ranked institution among NCAA Division III football attendance leaders. Saint John's averaged a school-record 8,547 fans per game and attracted 51,284 spectators during six home games in 2006, an increase of 622 spectators per game from last year's figures. The Johnnies average attendance of 8,547 per game outdistanced second-place Wabash (Ind.) at 5,447 fans per game.

And this, just in, from the E8 Nation Historian:

Shultz Accepts Pro Bid
Charles Shultz, Alfred University's Little All-America end, has signed a professional football contract with the Baltimore Colts of the National Football League. However, it is a provisional contract and Shultz will not report to Baltimore until 1959. He will continue at Alfred after graduation in June to work on his Masters and also faces Army service. A native of Turtle Creek, Pa., Shultz was picked as first choice Little All-America for the past two years as Alfred experienced two undefeated-untied seasons.
--Alfred Sun, Fifty Years Ago, April 11, 1957

Now, Mr. Chair, you may regret having appointed me historian.

This is exactly why you were appointed historian, Pep. So how did Mr. Shultz's pro career turnout? And what is little All-America?

Anyways, quick update on trip to Quebec......

Playing Canadien rules!?

No passport required if  driving, just birth cert and license.
If flying, passport needed.

Regarding Chuck's pro football career, I will have to ask him how it turned out... I don't recall. He's retired now, after serving many years as director of the career development center at Alfred University.

Another Saxon who made it to the NFL was AU speedster Les Goble, who returned a kickoff for a TD while playing for the former Chicago Cardinals in the mid-1950s.

As for "Little All America," that was THE national recognition for outstanding small college football players at that time. They didn't have D3football.com All-Americans back then.  ;)

+k to Sir Spiede.  This line from the story is going to ensure that PC smiles all day: "Unlike at the Division I and II levels, players in Division III do not sign letters of intent."

+k to E8 Nation's Official Historian.  The question must be raised though, will we get history from all E8Nation members?  Did anything interesting every happen at Hartwick?  Or what about PG04's beloved 'Wich?

It was only a 7-inning game and does not appear to be part of a doubleheader.  It looks as if there was a mercy rule in effect.
